Meet Sana - her story is an incredible one! Do you see the small orchid next to her? This is to celebrate her first year with FBTM and her first time taking up the Toast Master role to lead a whole meeting!

She was (and may still be) very shy when she joined First Burlington TM, but we’ve witness her grow and gradually come out of her comfort zone.

Over the year she’s learned to tame her fears, well a bit, so she says - taking on new roles and challenging herself every step of the way. Though she claims she still has a long way to become a confident public speaker, we sure are impressed with her growth!

Taking up a role during our meetings is one of the ways to improve your public speaking and leadership skills. Look for example at Jennifer and Kevin! Jennifer did a beautiful toast to Canada and reminded us of the value of kindness embedded in our Canadian society. Kevin instead, as Joke Master, told us a super funny joke and relaxed everyone’s nerves! 😉😊 Curious to know about the other meeting roles? Join us as a guest during our next meeting!

Great meeting tonight 🤩 we travelled back in time to when the WWW was introduced to the world and the word of the day was “connect”.
Table topics made us reflect if the WWW improved or worsen our connections and Rashid delivered a great speech on how failures shape one’s success 💪🏻
Finally some of us connected over a scoop of gelato 🍨

Table Topics is one the most important part of our meetings. It’s a segment that helps improve the members’ impromptu speaking skills by giving a 1 to 2 minute speech about a question asked by the Table Topics Master. This week our Rasha El Alfy was the TTM and asked Jerry what was a decision that changed his life. Would you be able to improvise?? 🤯 It sounds difficult but practice makes perfect! 💪🏻🎖️At Toastmasters you can improve your impromptu skills whether it’s for your work or social gatherings. 🌄We were finally able to have our first summer meeting outdoors and of course it was a success 🤩
The theme of the evening was “West Coast” and our speaker of the night, Karim, talked about the different communications styles that make up the acronym SAID. The styles are: Supportive, Analytical, Initiator, Direct. Which one is yours? Interested in learning more about it? Join us on our next meeting, every Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm (summer hours). 🥳
