🍂Happy Thanksgiving from Feed Halton! 🦃

This Thanksgiving, we are grateful for the incredible support of our community, volunteers, donors, partners, and neighbours who help us work toward a hunger-free Halton.

Our staff and volunteers will be taking time today to enjoy the holiday with family and friends. Please note that the Feed Halton facility is closed today and will reopen during regular business hours following the holiday.

As we reflect on all we have to be thankful for, we recognize that many individuals and families in our community continue to face food insecurity. Thank you for helping us ensure that everyone has access to nutritious food and the support they need.

From all of us at Feed Halton, we wish you and your loved ones a safe, happy, and meaningful Thanksgiving.

“How are things at the food bank?” It’s one of the questions our Executive Director, Robin Bailey, hears most often.

While FeedHalton works closely with local food banks, our role is a little different. We’re a food distribution hub that helps food banks and community agencies procure, store and distribute more food to the people they serve. 📦

Watch to learn more.

Food security means everyone can reliably afford and access enough safe, nutritious food that meets their needs and preferences.

When household income falls short, people may worry about running out, compromise on food quality or quantity, or skip meals.

Canada evaluates food security using availability (enough food exists), access (people can acquire it), adequacy (it is safe and nutritious), acceptability (it respects cultural preferences), and agency (communities drive their own policies).

FeedHalton was created to help strengthen the network meeting food needs across Halton, so we can create a more food secure Halton Region. Learn more about food security and FeedHalton at www.feedhalton.ca.

Food support goes beyond canned goods. 🥚🥛

From inside our fridge, Executive Director Robin Bailey shares how our partnership with Feed Ontario helps us receive fresh foods, including eggs, dairy, chicken, pork and beef. Support from local farmers also helps bring more fresh food into our regional network.

Watch to see how FeedHalton helps move both perishable and non-perishable food across Halton.

Menstrual products are a basic need. Food Banks Canada’s Menstrual Equity Fund pilot has delivered 124M+ products, estimated to serve 6M+ people nationwide.

Through Feed Ontario, FeedHalton is bringing this work to Halton, coordinating distribution through local organizations. Together, we are expanding free access and opening conversations about period poverty.
