A lovely testimonial and video made by the owners of Nicco the doggie that was found at Buttermilk falls!
The moment we realized Nicco had gone missing, we created a Facebook post to spread the word.
We were overwhelmed and amazed by the incredible response from the community. So many people shared our post, showed support, and immediately referred us to Ken and Dream Team Search Rescue and Recovery Inc.
First, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Lost and Found Pets Facebook community for helping raise awareness and offering guidance during such a stressful time.
Dream Team Search Rescue and Recovery did an incredible job helping bring our dog, Nicco, safely back home to our family.
Ken responded right away and came out to assess the property where Nicco had escaped. Amber, another member of the Dream Team, also came out to help canvas the neighbourhood, speak with residents, gather information, and spread awareness that Nicco was missing.
After seeing parts of their tracking process firsthand, it became clear that this team has extensive experience working with lost pets and knew exactly how to approach the situation.
The following day, we received a call with a possible sighting of Nicco. A couple from Michigan who were out hiking had spotted him near the bottom of Albion / Buttermilk Falls and contacted Animal Services on May 19.
A special thank you to them. Your kindness, compassion, and willingness to take action played an important role in helping bring Nicco home.
Ken quickly arrived on site, carefully assessed the situation, and worked with his teammate to plan the safest and most effective rescue route.
Nicco was approximately 100 metres down into a ravine and about 15 metres up on an embankment, resting inside a small cave.
Mitch, another Dream Team member, arrived and a decision was made to hike down to Nicco’s location. Ken guided us through the trails and showed us the safest route to reach the bottom.
Mitch and my husband carefully made their way down into the ravine. Once they got close to Nicco’s location, Ken and Mitch provided clear guidance and support throughout the rescue.
My family and I are truly grateful to have Nicco back home safe and unharmed.
We deeply appreciate the time, effort, dedication, compassion, and support the Dream Team provided from start to finish. They were there in the early moments after Nicco escaped, and they were there at the very end when he was safely back in our arms.
This experience reminded us just how powerful community can be when people come together to help. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to care, share, search, and support us throughout this journey.
