Sworn In as Parliamentary Secretary for Transportation and Strategic Development
Today, I was honoured to be sworn in as Parliamentary Secretary for Transportation and Strategic Development under Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors Minister Devin Dreeshen.
I want to sincerely thank Premier Danielle Smith and Minister Devin Dreeshen for the confidence they have placed in me to help support this important work for Alberta. Alberta continues to experience significant growth and investment opportunities, and I look forward to working alongside the Minister, Cabinet and Caucus colleagues, municipalities, Indigenous communities, industry, and regional partners to help advance strategic infrastructure, transportation, and economic corridor priorities across the province.
MLA Shane Getson, Parliamentary Secretary for Economic Corridor Development, also deserves recognition and thanks for the tremendous work he has done over the past several years helping advance Alberta’s economic corridor initiatives provincially, nationally, and internationally. His work helped build important momentum on this file, and I appreciate the strong foundation he leaves behind.
This new role will focus on supporting strategic transportation corridors, long-term infrastructure planning, economic growth opportunities, and coordination tied to trade, regional development, and major investments across Alberta. My experience working as an accountant and in Alberta’s oil and gas industry has given me firsthand insight into the importance of infrastructure, investment certainty, and economic growth in supporting communities across our province. From the highways connecting rural communities to the trade corridors moving Alberta products to market, this work will help shape Alberta’s future for generations to come. As Alberta continues to grow, strong long-term planning and strategic infrastructure investment will help support opportunities for communities and regions across the province.
Representing Bonnyville – Cold Lake – St. Paul, continues to be the greatest honour of my professional life. Our region has shaped my perspective from day one, and I will continue working hard to ensure northeastern Alberta has a strong voice at the table as these discussions move forward. The resilience, work ethic, and practical approach of the people who call this region home will continue guiding me in this new role.
None of this would be possible without the support of my wife Megan and our daughters. Public service requires sacrifice from the entire family, and I could not do this work without them beside me every step of the way. Their patience, encouragement, and understanding mean more to me than words can properly express. They continue to keep me grounded and remind me every day why serving Alberta and our communities matters so much.
The work ahead will require strong collaboration and long-term thinking, and I look forward to working with communities and partners across Alberta to help move these priorities forward. I am excited to get started and continue building on the opportunities ahead for Alberta and our region.
