Today is the last day to RSVP for the Blackburn Seniors Summer Lunch!

Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal and great conversation with friends and neighbours on Friday, June 26 at 12:00 PM at Portugalos Restaurant.

Guests will enjoy a choice of soup or salad, a selection of salmon, piri piri chicken, bifana (Portuguese pork sandwich), or vegetarian pasta, with a Portuguese tart for dessert!

The cost is $26 plus tax and gratuity.

🌿 Blackburn Garden Tour 2026 – July 11 & 12 🌿

Looking for some gardening inspiration this summer?

The 4th Annual Blackburn Hamlet Garden Tour takes place Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This free, self-guided tour gives you the opportunity to explore a variety of beautiful local gardens throughout the Hamlet!

Whether you're an experienced gardener, just getting started, or simply enjoy seeing what others have created, there's something for everyone to enjoy. From vegetable gardens and raised beds to flowers, containers, trellises, and creative growing spaces, our local gardeners have plenty of ideas to share!

This event is open to the public, welcoming visitors from across Ottawa and beyond! No tickets required.

❤️ Free Heart Health Screening for Adults 65+

The University of Ottawa Heart Institute's One Million Canadian Hearts program is offering free heart health screenings for adults aged 65+ with no known heart conditions.

Location: Aspira Bearbrook Retirement Residence
Date: July 2, 2026

The screening includes blood pressure testing, ECG, rapid blood work, a mini heart ultrasound, and personalized results and recommendations.

Appointments are required and space is limited.

REMINDER: Our next Blackburn Seniors Walk & Talk (June 2026) outing will be taking place on Wednesday June 17 at 1:00 PM.

We’ll meet in front of the Community Hall at 190 Glen Park Drive.

Participants can choose between a shorter 2km route or a longer 3km route. Be sure to bring a water bottle! Walks will proceed rain or shine. Should the weather be unexpectedly bad, however, please check our BCA page for updates first!

We're looking forward to gathering with friends and neighbours for a delicious lunch at Portugalos Restaurant on Friday, June 26 at 12:00 PM.

Guests will enjoy a choice of soup or salad, followed by their choice of salmon, piri piri chicken, bifana (Portuguese pork sandwich), or vegetarian pasta. Dessert will be a traditional Portuguese tart. The cost is $26 plus tax and gratuity.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP by June 19 by calling Shirley at 613-841-7691. Shirley will also help you select your main course when you reserve your spot.

Help your kids stay safe online this summer!

Join us for a free Online Game Safety Course for kids ages 8–15, presented by TECH-NEST at the Blackburn Community Hall.

Date: Sunday, June 14
Time: 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM

This is a FREE 1-hour course. Registration is not required (first come, first served seating). Please arrive on time.

Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Our next Seniors Breakfast will be taking place TOMORROW at the Halibut House on Wednesday, June 3rd at 9:00 am.

As usual, we will be collecting non-perishable goods or cash donations for the Life Centre Food Bank.
