Blackburn seniors and their families are invited to join us for a Seniors’ Family Picnic on Sunday, September 13 from 12:00 – 2:30 PM at the Just Food Community Farm!

Bring your family members or simply come on your own for an afternoon of food, music, family games, prizes, and fun as we celebrate the seniors in our community!

• Sandwiches, drinks & more
• Music and games
• Prizes and prize draws
• Chairs will be provided, or feel free to bring along your favourite lawn chair!

Please RSVP by September 5th so that we have enough time to prepare food and activities for everyone. Call or text Shirley to register.

Help us fill the Silent Auction table for the 2026 Cancer Chase. If you have something to contribute, we'd love to hear from you.

What we're looking for: new or gently used items valued at $50 or more. Think gift cards, sports and concert tickets, tools, kitchen gadgets, jewellery, artwork, homemade goods, hobby gear, or a service you could offer — anything you'd be excited to bid on yourself.

Every single dollar raised goes to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation for Cancer Research. There's barely a family in this neighbourhood that hasn't been touched by cancer in some way, and this is one morning a year where Blackburn shows up for each other.

It's hard to believe that summer is wrapping up, but Moose is VERY excited about an end of summer tradition coming up this weekend... the Bearbrook Pool Dog Swim!!! 🐶💦

Those who have been with their pups in past years know it's both joy, chaos, and a ton of fun for the doggies who attend and their families.

If you haven't yet been, just know there is nothing quite like it and I can personally say it's a summer highlight.

Mark your calendar for this Sunday, August 30, at the Bearbrook Pool, 2679 Innes Rd., 5 to 6 pm (following the public swim). The gates open and the pups go wild in all the best and goofy ways. 🐾

For those folks who don't have dogs, don't worry because everyone is welcome to stop by and enjoy! Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

C’est difficile de croire que l’été tire déjà à sa fin, mais Moose est TRÈS enthousiaste à l’idée d’une tradition de fin d’été qui revient ce week-end… la baignade pour chiens à la piscine Bearbrook!!! 🐶💦

Ceux et celles qui y ont déjà participé avec leur chien les années passées savent que c’est à la fois de la joie, du chaos et énormément de plaisir pour les chiens et leurs familles.

Si vous n’y êtes jamais allés, sachez qu’il n’y a rien de comparable. Personnellement, je peux vous dire que c’est l’un des moments forts de mon été!

Notez la date à votre calendrier : ce dimanche 30 août, à la piscine Bearbrook, située au 2679, chemin Innes, de 17 h à 18 h, après la baignade publique. Les portes s’ouvrent et les chiens deviennent fous, de toutes les meilleures façons les plus drôles! 🐾

Et si vous n’avez pas de chien, ne vous inquiétez pas : tout le monde est bienvenu pour venir profiter de l’ambiance! Au plaisir de vous y voir!

Seniors (ages 55 and up) are invited to join us for great food, conversation and laughter at our next seniors breakfast at the Halibut House on Wednesday, September 2nd at 9:00AM.

We will also be accepting donations of cash or non-perishable food items for the Life Centre Food Bank.
