Alberta Outfitters Association Wild West Country
Year of the Cowboy Scholarship
March 14, 2026 AGM & Fundraising Banquet Alberta is a land of diversity. Clean lakes, rivers and streams.

Just imagine thrill of riding horseback through scenic mountain passes. Experiencing the serenity of sitting by an open campfire, watching the rays of the setting sun as they light up the snow capped mountains. Our mission is: “To represent the trail riding industry of Alberta by promoting high standards of customer care, horsemanship and environmental conservation”

Outfitting has been a way of l

ife in Alberta since the 1800s. Outfitters explored, developed and opened-up much of this part of the country. Many of today's outfitters are the children and grandchildren of these early explorers. Today you'll still find a warm handshake and what we call, "true, down to earth, western hospitality". It is big, beautiful, wild and sophisticated. Majestic mountains, rolling foothills, gentle prairie. Modern cities, small towns and untouched wilderness. Wildlife galore... elk, moose, deer, bear, trout, eagles and hawks. An horizon that goes for as far as the eye can see. At night the sky is clear and full of stars. Nothing you have ever done, no vacation you have ever taken will live up to an Alberta horseback vacation. Along every trail, around each bend and on top of every mountain and hill, there is a story to be told, a sight to see and an experience to be remembered. The best way to experience Canada's Rocky Mountains in Alberta is on horseback. Take a western vacation in style with a Canadian Cowboy Outfitter. Whether you are visiting Banff, Jasper, Kananaskis, Waterton, Willmore Wilderness Parks, or other locations in the Canadian Rockies, make sure you enjoy the magnificent scenery on horseback. Book an old style trail ride and explore the mountainous country. Packhorse trips offer a wilderness experience you'll never forget.

Excitement was at its peak during the 2026 2-Man Packing Competition at our Fundraising Banquet! We had four teams compete, but only one team could win!

Based on speed and skill the Hot Lead and Cold Feet Team Won! Congratulations Rachel Pengelly and Syd Scott.

A big thank you to Montgomery Auction Services for sponsoring the championship buckles for this event!

Now, not much is possible at our outfits without the amazing staff, guides, and cooks—and often that describes the same person! They entertain guests, keep them safe, provide unforgettable experiences, and care for the horses themselves, keeping them fed and healthy. Sometimes being a guide even means being a bronc rider!

We want to extend a huge thank you to all our staff, and especially to those recognized at our Fundraising Banquet as Top Guide Award recipients within their outfits.

A crowd favourite every year—the saddle raffle auction never disappoints!
A huge thank you to the talented makers and generous businesses who helped make it happen:

We had the absolute pleasure of having two horse mannequins so the packing teams could compete side by side!

Thank you to Red Lodge Guest Ranch for contributing to the excitement and letting us use their beautiful bay!

One of the night’s biggest highlights is always our Packing Competition—and it couldn’t happen without our trusty horse mannequins!

Huge thanks to the Wild Sheep Foundation for lending us their mighty steed once again!

03/19/2026

We had such an incredible evening celebrating together—full of community, laughter, and great memories.
Another amazing banquet in the books, and we’re already excited for next year!
