The Nova Scotia SPCA accepts animals into its care regardless of their age or health. We also follow no-kill principles which means we do not euthanize animals for space. Unexpected life situations happen and the SPCA strives to be approachable, non-judgemental and understanding. On average, healthy and friendly animals are adopted into loving families in less than two weeks! You simply have to ca

ll and arrange an appointment so the shelter can learn about what is the most suitable type of home for your pet. The appointment also allows the shelter to prepare a cozy space for your pet to make the transition as smooth as possible. We understand how difficult it is to surrender a pet and thank all owners who are able to make the best decision for their pet. What are you doing right now? We think you should stop for a moment and read another foster feature for National Foster a Pet Month! 🙌

Lucy Landry has been fostering cats and kittens for years. And if you were wondering what some of the benefits to fostering are – besides cuddles, cuteness all around, and helping a furry friend – Lucy has a great one.

“Our 19-year old cat passed away shortly before we retired. We wanted to have another cat, but we also wanted to travel. Fostering is a great solution which gives us the enjoyment of having cats and the freedom to be away for extended periods of time.” ☺️

A win-win in our books! We’re so grateful for everything Lucy and her family do, and we couldn’t ask for better fosters!

Help us thank them by leaving paw prints in the comments! 🐾

It's FURRY FRIDAY brought to you by Kings Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Ltd.. If you aren't in the position to adopt this beautiful girl, just click share. Let's get as many eyes on Bailey as we can. For adoption information you can reach out to the Kings Branch of the SPCA.

Bailey is a sweet, loving, and happy 7-year old, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. She has a wonderful personality and loves spending time with her people, always ready to brighten someone's day with her affectionate nature and cheerful spirit.
Bailey does have some ongoing medical needs that her future family will need to be committed to managing. She has chronic otitis and dermatitis, which are currently well-managed with daily Apoquel and weekly medicated baths. She will also require ear cleanings every two weeks on a long-term basis to help keep her comfortable and prevent flare-ups.

In addition, Bailey has degenerative joint disease (DJD) and hip dysplasia. She is currently on gabapentin long-term to help keep her comfortable and support her mobility.

While Bailey's medical needs require ongoing care and commitment, they don't stop her from being the happy, loving dog she is. She is looking for an adopter who understands the importance of her treatment plan and is willing to provide the care she needs to continue thriving.

In return, Bailey offers endless affection, companionship, and a heart full of love. She is good with other dogs and loves children of all ages! She truly is a special girl who deserves a family willing to love her just as much as she'll love them.

Another day, another highlight for National Foster a Pet Month! And our amazing fosters, Mackenzie Coady and Tyler Deline shared a heartwarming story about their journey as fosters. 🥰

“Animals have always been a huge part of both of our lives, and when we moved away from home, fostering gave us the chance to continue sharing that love while helping animals who need comfort and care the most.

Our journey started with Ellie, a senior cat who became our very first foster — and our first foster fail. We adopted Ellie in March of last year and lost our sweet Ellie suddenly in January and although we thought we would have more time together, she changed our lives forever. Before she passed, we promised we would continue helping more animals like her.

Not long after, we welcomed Artemis, another senior cat, into our home. Artemis is now palliative, and we are committed to making sure the rest of his life is filled with comfort, safety, and love. Artemis brightens our days and we see so much of Ellie in him, while we wish they could have been in our home at the same time we truly feel like Ellie sent us Artemis

Fostering means giving animals a place where they can truly relax and be the center of someone’s world. Animals don’t get to choose their owners, but we make sure they always feel chosen.

Senior cats have a special place in our hearts!” 🥹

And you have a special place in our hearts! Please leave blue hearts in the comments to help us show our appreciation! 💙
