Exploring and Photographing The Great Canadian Wilderness
Resting in the forest or on a mountain peak, or on the rocks by a deserted ocean with waves crashing around me is where you will find me, I found comfort there and found myself. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1968, and immigrating

to Canada when I was a teenager, I have tried to capture the beauty of my surroundings and the vast wilderness’s of Canada through my camera. Having settled and making my home in the town of Castlegar, West Kootenay's, British Columbia, has given me a vastness of opportunities in this land of diverse cultures, endless mountains and forests. Through the years since I was a small child I have had a deep heartfelt connection with the wilderness and wildlife in their natural habitats, it is a strong spiritual connection that brings me endless peace and leaves me feeling balanced with the world and society. I was introduced to photography at a young age developing film and prints from about the age of 9 and my education in photographic arts and photojournalism progressed through Grammar School in Northern Ireland and College in Canada. What is the art of taking a photograph; having the curiosity to what is going on in the world, a respect for what is going on and a desire to transcribe it visually without adding anything or taking anything from the photograph. Last night's partial lunar eclipse, but there was still a ton of smoke in the air from the fire in the area.

The faint blue edge or turquoise fringe can sometimes be seen on the Moon right at the outer border of Earth's shadow during a lunar eclipse.
What Causes the Blue Shadow?
The blue color comes from sunlight passing through the highest layers of Earth’s stratosphere.
* Rayleigh Scattering: Earth's atmosphere scatters short blue light waves in all directions much more than it scatters long red waves.
* Ozone Absorption: Sunlight skimming through the stratosphere also passes through the ozone layer, which strongly absorbs red light and lets a faint, distinct hue of blue light pass through relatively cleanly.
* The Edge of the Umbra: While the deep center of Earth's shadow (the umbra) glows red and orange from bent light, the very outer edge of the shadow can display this crisp, pale blue fringe before fading into the penumbra.

That old saying is actually true. Lightning storms help mushrooms grow. Rain gives them the water they need, while lightning's electricity shocks the underground network of fungal threads and wakes them up to reproduce.

Lightning in Castlegar awakening the W**e Caps, Stropharia rugosoannulata. They are also widely called garden giants, king stropharia, and burgundy mushrooms. I was so happy to see these today, and I definitely know what is for dinner this evening
