Exploring and Photographing The Great Canadian Wilderness
Resting in the forest or on a mountain peak, or on the rocks by a deserted ocean with waves crashing around me is where you will find me, I found comfort there and found myself. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1968, and immigrating

to Canada when I was a teenager, I have tried to capture the beauty of my surroundings and the vast wilderness’s of Canada through my camera. Having settled and making my home in the town of Castlegar, West Kootenay's, British Columbia, has given me a vastness of opportunities in this land of diverse cultures, endless mountains and forests. Through the years since I was a small child I have had a deep heartfelt connection with the wilderness and wildlife in their natural habitats, it is a strong spiritual connection that brings me endless peace and leaves me feeling balanced with the world and society. I was introduced to photography at a young age developing film and prints from about the age of 9 and my education in photographic arts and photojournalism progressed through Grammar School in Northern Ireland and College in Canada. What is the art of taking a photograph; having the curiosity to what is going on in the world, a respect for what is going on and a desire to transcribe it visually without adding anything or taking anything from the photograph. Education in the photographic arts, photojournalism, conservation, ecology and natural history preservation. www.canadaphotographicarts.ca

A weary heart, a torn desire,
To simply survive the great unknown.
A frozen heart begins to melt,
A gentle warmth amid the frost.
The greatest pain you ever felt,
Is met by love you thought was lost.
It holds you close within the dark,
And softly binds each broken part.
A quiet, fierce, enduring spark,
To heal your tortured, weary heart.
Then crashes down a cosmic tide,
An ancient stream of gold and blue.
The universe expands so wide,
To pour its endless grace on you.
This ever-healing, timeless light
Dissolves the walls of fear and shame.
It floods the corners of your night,
And softly whispers back your name.
No darkness can withstand this glow,
It mends the cracks and soothes the scars.
Be still, and let the healing flow,
For you are made of stardust, too.

“Now’ I Fly Free”

I pour a river, you offer a drop.
I am the safety net when others stop.
A voice in the dark when your world goes cold,
A hand to reach for, but never to hold.
You choose the crowd until the crowd clears out,
Leaving me parsing the crumbs of your doubt.
A cure for your boredom, a mend for your pain,
A shelter you visit just to escape the rain.
But love isn't built on the scraps of your time,
Or waiting in line for a hill I can't climb.
I am closing the door to the passenger seat,
I deserve a whole heart, not a bitter retreat.
A cold heart, some say, but no,
A freedom you stole, which I will find again.

The shadows fade, the woods give way,
The night forgets to follow day.
A ceiling spun of liquid light,
In shades of green and cosmic white.
The mountain peaks are sharp and high,
They pierce the glowing, painted sky.
A wanderer on paths untold,
Beneath a canopy of gold.
No longer dark, no longer plain,
The forest breathes a soft refrain.
An unbelievable, quiet grace,
Enchanted in this timeless space.
