We are pleased to welcome Christine Beaver to our conference.

Christine was born in Barrhead and raised on her family’s farm in Tiger Lily, Alberta. Her life journey has taken her from education to public service, including more than 30 years with the Edmonton Police Service, where she retired as a detective/sergeant. Along the way, Christine has remained deeply connected to community life through volunteering, lifelong learning, and sharing stories that matter.
who
At our conference, Christine will share a personal story about Black history in Western Canada, reflecting on her family’s experiences and the history of the Campsie community.

As Christine shares:

“The story of Campsie is the story of the descendants of former slaves who came to Canada after Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery in the United States through the Emancipation Proclamation, declaring that every man should be free.”

We look forward to hearing Christine’s powerful perspective and learning more about this important chapter of our region’s history.

🌟 Welcome, Elaine Braeden-Peiche! 🌟

We are honoured to welcome Elaine Braeden-Peiche to our conference. Elaine served as the Alberta Agriculture District Home Economist in Barrhead for 10 years, and it was her vision that started it all.

Many years ago, Elaine had the idea to organize a Farm Women’s Conference — recognizing the incredible work farm women do in our communities every day.

Over the years, the program has evolved, but the heart of the event remains the same. Today, we celebrate the Barrhead Women’s Conference, recognizing the many ways women contribute to the strength, vibrancy, and success of our communities.

Thank you, Elaine, for planting the seed for something that continues to grow and inspire. 💐

Vendor and Speaker Spotlight: Triple Lyoness Farm

"One Pasture to Three Lyoness's: Built on Hard work and Happy memories."

We are excited to welcome Triple Lyoness Farm to the conference — both as a vendor and a speaker!
"One Pasture to Three Lyoness's: Built on Hard work and Happy memories."
Triple Lyoness Farm is a family-run operation led by the three Carlyon daughters — Andria, Jessica, and Briana — along with their parents Rod and Janet Carlyon. The name Triple Lyoness proudly represents the three daughters who have grown up immersed in agriculture and continue to play an important role in the family farm.

Together, this hardworking family raises pasture-raised beef, chicken, and turkey, along with free-range pork and eggs. Their farm is built on the idea of diversity in agriculture, choosing not to specialize in just one area but instead producing a variety of products while working closely with the land and their animals.

Rod and Janet form the backbone of the farm — providing daily animal care, record keeping, and the steady labour that keeps the operation running smoothly. Meanwhile, their daughters continue to stay deeply involved in agriculture, contributing to the farm’s growth and helping with major tasks and marketing the farm’s products.

We are looking forward to hearing their inspiring success story, their deep involvement in the farming community, and how they make agriculture work as a family enterprise.

🌱 Their story is also a wonderful example of a younger generation taking a keen interest in agriculture and building a successful future in the industry.

Be sure to stop by their vendor table and join us for their talk!
