Less reflection, higher risk - it's time to act!

Climate change doesn’t just change temperatures—it changes landscapes, water systems, and lives.

In Nepal, the effects of a changing climate are becoming increasingly visible. As snow and ice melt, darker land and water are exposed, absorbing more of the Sun’s energy instead of reflecting it back into space. This is known as the albedo effect.

Less snow and ice → more heat absorbed → faster warming → greater risks from extreme weather

This has now been the root cause of the floods and landslides currently happening in Nepal.

We can’t stop climate change with awareness alone — we need action!

💧 Keep waterways clean and healthy
🏘️ Support climate-resilient communities
📚 Educate others about climate change
📢 Take action and encourage others to do the same

Protecting our environment means protecting the people who depend on it.

We recently planted liquorice mint in our garden, and we now receive over 50 bumblebee visitors a day! It's amazing how a single significant plant can help so many bumblebees and other endangered pollinators! Surprisingly, liquorice mint is also edible; its leaves can be used in herbal teas and salads. The taste is very much like that of anise, liquorice and mint.

Plant a liquorice mint in your garden today to attract more pollinators into your garden!

A reminder that nature is full of surprises and is always there to make your day better, just like this grasshopper on the bridge of my nose! A perfect example of how the most ordinary and insignificant of things (take a grasshopper for example) can suddenly become extraordinary and significant.

On August 12 we celebrated and continue to celebrate every day all the youth in the world who have the passion, the drive and the determination to protect our planet and build a brighter future.

Here is a wonderful moment where we caught two bumblebees pollinating the same coneflower. As you can see, they are giving each other space and not fighting for food. It's incredible how much we can learn about bumblebees!

OUR ACTIONS MATTER!

Due to the persisting wildfires in northern Ontario, people have been evacuated from their homes, others have lost their home, others have lost their lives, and entire ecosystems and animals are at risk!

What has been causing the wildfires in northern Ontario?

Extreme Heat & Humidity: Severe heat warnings pushed temperatures and humidex values unusually high, drying out forest fuels rapidly.

Dry Boreal Conditions: Northwestern Ontario features shallow soils and highly flammable coniferous trees like jack pine and black spruce that ignite and dry out fast.

Lightning and Storms: Prairie-influenced weather patterns brought highly convective storm systems, creating frequent lightning ignitions.

Climate Change: Rising global temperatures and shifting weather norms have extended and worsened regional fire seasons

Protecting pollinators is about more than saving bees—it's about restoring habitats, strengthening biodiversity, and inspiring communities to become stewards of the natural world. Every action counts!
