As temperatures rise and residents begin spending more time outdoors, Arborg-Bifrost Fire & Emergency Services would like to remind everyone to be Fire Smart.

At this time, there are currently no fire restrictions in place. However, last year’s wildfire season demonstrated how quickly conditions can change and how devastating uncontrolled fires can become across Manitoba and our local communities.

If you are planning to have a backyard fire, please ensure it is contained within an approved fire pit, never leave it unattended, and fully extinguish it when finished. Avoid burning during windy conditions and always keep a water source or hose nearby.

By taking a few simple precautions, we can all do our part to help prevent another severe wildfire season in Manitoba and protect the Arborg-Bifrost area. If you require a burn permit ensure you reach out to the Town office in advance of your plaanned burn.

Stay safe, stay responsible, and help keep our community protected.

Arborg Bifrost fire department responded to a single vehicle collision yesterday evening, the vehicle veered off the road and collided with a Hydro pole. The occupant walked away from the vehicle with minor injuries and was assessed by EMS. No other personnel or property was involved with the incident. Manitoba Hydro worked hard to restore power to the area, we appreciate their support during events like this.

The training evolutions never end and should never become standard. Arborg-Bifrost Fire Department continuously develops its firefighters to respond to all types of incidents and to expect the unexpected. Yesterday's training focused on vehicle stabilization, trunk tunneling and patient care.

We hope to never need to use these well rehearsed skills but if we do we are prepared.

Drive safely and if you ever see emergency lights behind you please move to the right and allow them to pass.
