As camp is coming to a close it only seems fitting to acknowledge an individual responsible for these camps.
For several summers, Victoria Rankin has been a shining presence at the Antigonish Highland Society dedicating her time, energy, and passion to helping our programs flourish.
Now, as she graduates from StFX with a degree in Education and begins her journey as a full-time teacher, she closes this chapter.
Victoria first developed these summer camps five years ago, when she and another student co-developed our now children’s summer camps. What started as a new idea quickly grew into a meaningful tradition, thanks to her creativity, organization, and unwavering commitment. Year after year, she returned to lead with enthusiasm and building unforgettable experiences for countless children and families.
Her love for Gaelic language and culture has always been at the heart of her work. From integrating Gaelic language and songs into camp activities to celebrating Scottish traditions with a fresh, youthful energy!
Victoria has helped keep our heritage vibrant and alive for the next generation. But beyond her work at the camps, Victoria has been a model of dedication. Whether planning activities, prepping materials, or pitching in wherever needed, she has always gone above and beyond with thoughtfulness, responsibility, and an inspiring work ethic.
Victoria, we can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done — not just for the Society, but for the community as a whole.
We wish you all the best as you begin your teaching career — those students are lucky to have you!
