π¨π¦ A country that understands its history is better prepared for its future.
From Confederation and the building of the railway, to the sacrifices of Canadian veterans, the contributions of Indigenous Peoples, and Canada's role on the world stage, our history has helped shape the nation we know today.
Many Canadians believe children should have a strong understanding of Canadian history β not only to learn about the past, but to better appreciate the freedoms, institutions, and opportunities that exist today.
Others feel schools should place greater emphasis on global history, current events, and the challenges facing future generations.
Learning history is not just about memorizing dates. It is about understanding the people, decisions, achievements, and lessons that helped build Canada.
π¬ What do you think?
Should Canadian history remain a major part of what children learn in school?
π¨π¦ Share if you believe future generations should understand the people, events, sacrifices, and achievements that helped shape Canada.
