Thankyou for sharing a few posters for the 6th Annual happening this Fall on October 4/26 in Langley BC 🇨🇦

PCRC's home base is Squamish where you can find access to their walks, hikes and runs that are fully sober and supported by Founder Haven and Charity.

The Run For Sobriety Association is a non-profit that hosts a run/walk event focused on supporting individuals and their loved ones dealing with mental health and substance use recovery. Each participant entry raises funds for registered charities that directly support this cause.⬇️

I'm excited PCRC is going to be coming to this event all the way from the Sea to Sky area! 🫶

🌿 We are changing

When I started Sober Fun Run Club on October 25, 2025, I simply wanted to pace my sobriety forward weekly—in a substance-free space where there was no pressure to perform.

Since then, we've grown into an Run Like A Girl Approved Club, made memories sharing runs, volunteering together and had meaningful conversations through it all.

As life evolves, so do we.

This summer, SFRC will transition away from weekly Saturday meetups to monthly pop-up walks, runs, hikes, socials, and special community events. This gives me the flexibility to balance career growth, care for my mom, prioritize my injury recovery, show up for my volunteer commitment's and continue growing SFRC in a sustainable way for years to come.

🍂 Save the Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026!

I'm planning a special free neighbourhood community gathering in Abbotsford. I can't share all the details just yet, but I hope you save the date! More details will be shared later this summer through the newsletter, Eventbrite, Strava and social media. You can find all those links in the bio. It makes my heart happy to plan this event for the community which I moved to in summer 2024.

What began here as a way to pace my sobriety forward has evolved into a way to pace my recovery forward. As I approach 18 months sober, I'm filled with gratitude for where this journey has led me. None of it was planned, yet every step has brought new people, new opportunities, and a deeper sense of purpose.

Now, I get to be intentional about creating the next chapter—and finding new ways to celebrate it together.

Thank you for being part of this journey. I look forward to continuing to connect through shared movement—one intentional event at a time.

💚 Allison

🐻 Bear Spray Safety Workshop with June 7, 2026.

Today, 11 participants gathered at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack BC for a hands-on Bear Spray Safety Workshop led by Aneurin Sheasby, the local WildSafeBC Fraser Valley Community Coordinator.

Hosted by SFRC's Founder 🫶

Together we learned:
✅ How bear spray works
✅ Safe carry, storage, transporting & deployment techniques
✅ Basic wildlife encounter safety
✅ How to feel more confident exploring the outdoors

One of the things I love most about hosting community events is watching people arrive as strangers and leave feeling a little more connected and informed. We had people who are new to bear encounters and people who regularily encounter them: each found this course to have valuable information they were not aware of to take away.

A huge thank you to Aneurin and WildSafeBC, a non-profit, for sharing their expertise and helping us better understand how to safely coexist with wildlife here in BC. 🇨🇦

Thanks to everyone who came out, asked great questions, practiced with the inert training equipment, and supported the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve through your generous donations for the venue space.

Chexk out their large gift shop run by community volunteers. You might find a nice gift, and you can explore the trail network that connects to the Vedder river trails.

At SFRC, we believe movement, education, and community all go hand in hand. Whether we're walking, running, hiking, learning new outdoor skills, every event is another opportunity to build connection and confidence outdoors.

Stay tuned for future hikes, wellness events, workshops, and community gatherings from our club.

Canyon to Coast
June 6, 2026

WOW! 😍

What a beautiful way to spend a Saturday on the scenic Canyon to Coast route in Chilliwack BC 🇨🇦

SFRC Fraser Valley showed up to support set-up, registration and an aid station to give those runner's some high-vibes to keep em' going to the finish line. ✨️🏅✨️

The best part of the day is hearing from the marathoners that for many this was their first marathon. They all looked incredible and kept smiling! One man said he had over 300 marathons under his belt! We heard people came from Vancouver Island and even as far north as Fort. St John, specifically for this Run Like A Girl Adventures course over other city marathons available.

I love seeing the signs people make and captured a cheerleader rocking her beautiful poster with added spirit for energy. You can't get that from a gel. 💖⭐️

There is something magic about breaking the stigma around humans running "like a girl". The paradox is that it sets the tone for anyone to show up inclusively beyond the limitations of what you believe is possible for yourself, or collectively.

I think that's why SFRC resonates as an RLAG Approved Club ✅️. We provide a substance-free movement space on Saturdays to support recovery pacing, connection, shared wellness and support without any stigma around people living a sober life, or whether you are simply sober supportive.

We are so grateful to show up and support you on your journey as you run your own race at your pace. 🏃‍♀️🫶
