✨️The Power of the Pause.

Pausing is not the same as losing momentum. And momentum is not always the same as growth.

Sometimes growth looks like slowing down long enough to heal.

Right now, I’m pacing a recurring load injury to prevent another setback I can't afford, and SFRC Saturday runs will pause until June 13 while I rehab & reset.

But healing isn’t only physical.

Reducing emotional, financial, mental, and social overload matters too. Sometimes the strongest thing we can do is make intentional shifts instead of continuing to perform through exhaustion.

May is Mental Health Month, and I want to be honest about that. 🌿

This is the face of a woman who has carried grief for a long time. Who lost her father to a sudden death in 2015. Who has been caregiving through her mother’s dementia journey since 2019 β€” a journey often called β€œthe longest goodbye.”

This is also the face of a woman who was bullied deeply as a teen for being seen as ugly. Who was told she would never become anything by a coworker. Who spent years with no self-confidence, rebuilding, relapsing, learning, healing, and trying again.

And somehow, through all of it, she kept finding how to move herself forward.

Now 16+ months sober. Her final year of her 40s. Creating a community rooted in connection over performance. πŸ’•

Not because life became easy. But because slowing down taught her how to stay present. ✨️ Presence is your power, if you pause long enough you'll feel it too.

So if you’re carrying too much right now, this is your reminder: You do not have to hold everything at once.

Micro shifts matter.
Rest matters.
Pausing matters.

Pace yourself.
It’s okay.
I see you. πŸ’–

πŸ“£ We’re proud to officially be recognized as an RLAG Approved Run Club! πŸ‘‰

What started as a simple Saturday run 6 months ago on October 25/25, has naturally grown into a welcoming community space rooted in wellness, movement without pressure, and genuine connection. 🌿

Through this partnership, SFRC is now featured in the RLAG community section and movement map on their website.

You’ll also catch Founder participating in different RLAG events and initiatives throughout the year, with opportunities for future special events to pop-up near you!

As our club continues to grow across the Fraser Valley, this connection helps expand community in a meaningful and organic way β€” bringing more people together through movement, inclusivity, and shared support.

Together, we continue building stronger and wider community connections to keep pacing sobriety forward and reduce the stigma around recovery. πŸ’›

Many of our members are sober supporters, in recovery or simply showing up for the slow pace and social vibes.

We respect everyone's journey, and welcome you to show up as you are. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

The work isn’t always the run.

Sometimes the work is slowing down when your mind wants to push harder.

Sometimes it’s physio, meditation, patience, and learning how to adapt instead of quit.

My journey toward the Backyard Ultra in March 2027 was never just about mileage. It’s about resilience, recovery, connection, and continuing to show up honestly through every phase of the process.

Lately it’s felt like a few steps forward, a few back with recurring strains. Right now, the body is healing. The mind is still training. In place of morning miles, I’ve leaned into meditation β€” learning that resilience isn’t only built through movement, but also through stillness.

No matter what happens, the most important thing to me is my sobriety. 16 months sober and continuing to pace connection forward, whether my feet are moving or not.

I’m working toward my first BYU start line in Abbotsford next March. If you’d like to support the journey and help pay it forward, the link in bio supports my charity of choice:

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ I wanted to take a moment to share this past weekend cheering on the milestone's of our club community. These are friends I've made after getting sober last year and putting myself out there to keep pacing forward. By doing so, I've met these freaking amazing women who inspire me as they dare greatly!

They have all done the work on every level to overcome something and become the version of themselves you see today.

Please give three cheers to:

πŸŽ‰ Robyn on her first trail race ever, 12k at 5 Peaks Trail Running Golden Ears!

πŸŽ‰ Charity on her first 21.1k half marathon road race ever! From our sober sister club in Squamish!

πŸŽ‰ Lana on her first 42.2k marathon ever at the BMO in Vancouver!

You inspire me not because you ran, but because you crossed the start line and embraced the unknown even when you didn't think you could go any further at some point in your life. I'm humbled to share your joy and grateful that SFRC brought us together. πŸ™

I also celebrated my 16 months sobriety at 5 Peaks Golden Ears, hiking the 7.5km Sport course on a beautiful blue bird BC day on May 2, 2026.

Our little run club is now 6 months the old as well. πŸ₯°
