The Abbotsford Fire Fighters Association Local 2864 is made up of dedicated men and women from in and around our community that are constantly devoting their efforts and hard work on and off the job. Local 2864 was established in 1982 with only 8 members and now has over 90 members serving our community through prevention, education, suppression, and investigation.

As neighbors are evacuated, your safety called into question, and livelihoods placed in jeopardy, we take every opportunity to help at each call for service.

We would like to recognize the hard work and professionalism of our colleagues with and .873 during these trying times. Our gratitude goes out to the AFRS Management team who have dedicated their time and expertise to staffing the Emergency Operations Centre. Lastly, we cannot highlight enough, the role the Emergency Support Services members have played in providing essential services to displaced citizens of the .

Local 2864 Abbotsford Fire Fighters congratulate retired member Ed Griffioen on receiving a Fire Chief’s commendation yesterday. Ed was instrumental in successfully administering CPR to an Abbotsford citizen and bringing them back from cardiac arrest.

The skills our members practice daily serve the public while on duty and off. They are carried into retirement and remain as instincts whenever needed.

Ed, we were proud to serve alongside you and are not surprised to see your desire to help still guiding your actions. We know you’ll continue to enjoy retirement wholeheartedly, always ready to lend a helping hand.
