Lilac Season at the 108 🌸

The lilacs are in full bloom at the 108 Heritage Site…and they don’t last long.

Between the historic buildings, open green space, and views over the lake, this time of year brings a different kind of beauty to the site.

If you’re visiting this week, take a moment to slow down and enjoy it.

Three Buildings… and a Story That Still Lingers

The three log buildings in this photo share a connection to one of the area’s most talked-about places…the so-called “Hotel from Hell.”

The Post House was once part of that hotel, and when it was dismantled, its lumber was reused to build the two neighbouring structures you see here today.

But the story doesn’t end there.

Local legend ties the hotel to Agnes MacVee - a woman often described as a notorious murderess. Whether she was ever truly here is something no one can say for certain… but her story has become part of the folklore surrounding the site.

History and legend have a way of intertwining here at the 108 Heritage Site.

Have you heard the story?

Fun Fancy Hat Friday 🎩

We’ve been so excited to have our summer student Charlotte back—and we couldn’t resist bringing back Fun Fancy Hat Friday to celebrate.

We may not be out and about in hats all day today, but we did capture a fun Friday photo to keep the tradition going.

Keep an eye out for it 👀 and help us welcome Charlotte back for the season.

We’ve added new snack items to the gift shop this season.

These weren’t available last year, and they’re now stocked for visitors who want a quick treat while exploring the site.

Items are refreshed regularly throughout the season, and selection may vary—so if something catches your eye, don’t wait too long to grab it.

Next time you’re here, stop by the gift shop and take a look.
