Reflecting on an insightful and impactful event as we successfully hosted the sequel to our Constitutional Court Dialogue! 🏛️

A huge thank you to our key speakers and panelists for driving such an enriching discussion:

🔸Mr. Potlako Bogatsu (Lentswe La Sechaba) for setting the tone with a powerful keynote speech on the vital role of civic engagement in keeping Batswana informed about their fundamental legal rights and ongoing constitutional reforms.

🔸Mr. Kutlwano Pelontle (BOCONGO), for reminding us that ultimate power rests with Batswana to exercise their right to vote at the referendum.

🔸 Mrs. Ludo Sekga(University of Botswana), for delivering an enlightening comparative analysis of Constitutional Court models across jurisdictions, highlighting examples like Kenya’s dedicated High Court division.

🔸 Mr. Othusitse Mbeha (Mbeha Attorneys), for calling on all Batswana to cultivate a zealous appetite for legal literacy and actively stay informed on issues that affect them.

🔸 Mr. Isaiah P**e(BONELA), for emphasizing the state's paramount duty to ensure that all progress toward establishing a Constitutional Court directly serves the interests of Batswana.

🔸 Mrs. Tlamelo Mothudi (LEGABIBO), for underscoring the critical need to educate the public on the governing statutes of the referendum, particularly the Referendum Act.

🔸 Special gratitude goes to Mr. Lere Dingalo for expertly moderating the panel discussion and keeping the dialogue seamless.

🔸 Gratitude also goes to our very own Awetse Motlhabane for smoothly MCing the dialogue and Mogoone Nkape for giving the opening remarks that set the tone for the evening!!!

Meet our panelist: Mr. Kutlwano Pelontle.

MO GO ONE MOLAO is pleased to introduce Kutlwano Pelontle, Executive Director of the Botswana Council of Non-Governmental Organisations (BOCONGO) and a leading voice in governance, civil society and public policy.

Mr Pelontle studied Political Science, Public Administration and International Relations at the University of Botswana, where he distinguished himself academically and received several awards, including the Dean’s Prize in Social Sciences and the Roderick Rice Award for Best Graduating Student in Public Administration. His academic journey also included an exchange programme at Maastricht University in the Netherlands.

In his current role at BOCONGO, he leads national civil society coordination and advocacy on governance, democracy, human rights and development. His professional experience also includes work with international organisations such as the International Organization for Migration, alongside experience in government and academia.

His perspective brings an important civil society and governance dimension to the conversation, particularly as we consider how constitutional reform intersects with democratic participation, institutional accountability and the broader public interest.

Mr P**e is a seasoned Community Social Development Expert bringing over two decades of extensive experience to the table. He currently serves as the Advocacy, Communication, and Grants Management Officer at the Botswana Network on Ethics, Law and HIV/AIDS (BONELA).

With a deeply grounded career spanning community social development, human rights advocacy, and public interest communication, he brings invaluable insights into the intersection of law, ethics, and social progress.

Meet our Panel Moderator: Mr Lere Dingalo.

MO GO ONE MOLAO is pleased to introduce Lere Dingalo, who will be moderating Constitutional Court Dialogue — Part II.

Lere is a legal scholar and recent Bachelor of Laws (LLB) graduate of the University of Botswana, Class of 2026. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and has developed strong academic interests in constitutional law, governance, international law, and the evolution of legal institutions in Botswana.

His academic work has been published internationally, including a contribution with the Illinois Institute of Technology (USA). His current research, “Exploring Anti-Money Laundering Frameworks in Botswana and South Africa: A Comparative Legal Analysis,” is under review by the University of Botswana Law Journal.

With his grounding in law, governance, institutional development and public legal discourse, Lere will guide the panel conversation, frame the key questions and help create space for thoughtful, focused and meaningful engagement.

Meet one of our panelists: Mr Othusitse Mbeha.

MO GO ONE MOLAO is pleased to introduce Othusitse Mbeha Managing Partner of Othusitse Mbeha Lawyers, who will be joining us for Constitutional Court Dialogue — Part II

Mr Mbeha holds an LLB from the University of Botswana and is an admitted and practising attorney of the Courts of Botswana, with
12 years of experience in private practice. His areas of interest include constitutional law, human rights, administrative law, electoral law, employment law and labour law. Beyond legal practice, he is also a frequent media commentator on legal and political affairs, a newspaper columnist, and the author of two books.

His experience across constitutional and public law makes his contribution particularly relevant to a discussion centred on constitutional reform, implementation and Botswana’s future*.

Meet our panelists: Mrs Ludo Lone Sekga.

MO GO ONE MOLAO is pleased to introduce Ludo Lone Sekga, an admitted attorney in the Republic of Botswana whose legal and policy experience spans *corporate law, family law, refugee protection, civil society, labour relations and human rights work. She has served as a policy and legal advisor to corporate bodies, a civil society organisation and a labour union, and has also worked as a Women in Law in Southern Africa representative and a human rights analyst for a regional organisation.

Miss Sekga’s current areas of analysis include peace and security, international humanitarian law and sexual minority rights. She holds a BA, LLB, LLM in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa, and an International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance, and is currently a doctoral candidate focusing on International Law and Constitutionalism.

Her broad grounding in law, human rights and constitutionalism brings an important perspective to Constitutional Court Dialogue — Part II, particularly as the conversation turns to what constitutional reform could mean in practice, how it may affect rights and institutions, and what implementation may require.
