Yesterday, the University of Botswana Law Society in collaboration with Mo Go One Molao hosted a public discussion on the proposed Constitutional Court, creating a platform for meaningful and informed engagement on one of Botswana’s most important legal conversations.

The discussion unpacked both the potential advantages and concerns surrounding the establishment of the Constitutional Court, while also exploring what the court would entail and the processes involved in its establishment.

As the referendum draws closer, conversations like these remain essential in ensuring that every Motswana is equipped with an informed understanding of the Constitutional Court and its implications for the country’s legal and constitutional landscape. Through continued public engagement, we hope to contribute towards a more informed and participatory national dialogue.

We take this moment to thank and appreciate the distinguished speakers Mr Parks Tafa, Miss Bonolo Selelo, Mr Ndzinge Makhamisa, Dr Rockfall Lekgowe , Mr Lerako Gaotsenelelwe, Mr Godknows Theko and our moderator Mr Lere Dingalo for giving their insights. We also thank everyone that was involved in preparations for the discussion including members of the public who graced our discussion.
