CULTURE EROSION VS CULTURE INNOVATION

"Culture Erosion is the silent disappearance of our roots under the pressure of global trends. Culture Innovation is the intentional blooming of those roots into new forms. We aren't changing who we are; we are changing how we show up in the modern world so that our heritage remains a source of wealth and pride, rather than just a memory."

The Wayeyi Cultural Festival opened with drums, dance, and dignity.

And Kgosi Tawana was there. Standing in support. Showing up for another tribe’s Kgosi, another tribe’s culture.

No rivalry. No shadows. Just respect.

This is the Okavango we are building: Indigenous communities united for one goal: to uplift each other and hold space for all.

Unity is power. Diversity is power. And today, Gumare proved it.

Cultural and heritage tourism can change lives.

The indigenous communities of the Okavango : Wayeyi, Xhereku, Hambukushu, Khoesan, and Herero are the true keepers of the delta. Yet this generation has lost touch with their history. Our languages are endangered. Our culture is being eroded.

But these are the very foundations we need to build cultural tourism.

At Same Culture New Botswana we believe economic impact is one of the greatest gifts we can give our communities. When our culture becomes a livelihood, its preservation becomes a way of life.

We train local communities in their historic cultural heritage so they can develop products, guide experiences, and confidently share their way of life with the world.

Tourism shouldn’t overshadow us. It should sustain us.
When we earn from our culture, we protect it.
When we stand behind every name : Wayeyi, Xhereku, Hambukushu, Khoesan, Herero we preserve together.

THE WATER RACE AUDITIONS – MAUN WRAP

Today we officially wrapped up THE WATER RACE auditions in Maun, and what a powerful day it was.

We were honoured to welcome renowned actors [PWANDA- Prince Bogosi] and [POO E TONA-Dr Malome], who came through to audition and share space with emerging talent. Your presence added depth, inspiration, and energy to the room — thank you for believing in this story and this journey.

The response from Maun has been incredible. The passion, talent, and love for storytelling we witnessed reminds us why THE WATER RACE is more than a drama — it’s a cultural movement.

NEXT STOP: GUMARE - MAKGOVANGO
DATE: 29 DECEMBER

SEPOPA - BALEO
DATE: 30 DECEMBER

To all actors, storytellers, and dreamers — we are coming.

The river continues to flow.
The race continues.
