On 16th January 2026, Fauna Conservation Trust (FCTN) led by it's Deputy Chairperson Ms Gracious Mogalakwe and Secretary Mr Gabofele Mokgwathi met with representatives of MMG Khoemacau led by the Executive Director in charge of Stakeholder Engagement, Sustainability and Legal Compliance Mr Boikobo Paya to discuss contents of an Inception report for the Maun Urban Regeneration Project as championed by FCTN and Nhabe Museum.
The Maun Urban Regeneration Project is a project intended to ignite transformation of Maun from mere Tourism Transit Port to Tourism Destination Area by integrating the Maun Education Park, Thamalakane River Front, Nhabe Museum and Maun Airport Enclave into a pedestrian friendly, informal business sector facilitative recreation area.
As part of its mission to contribute to poverty reduction, job creation and empower women and youth, MMG Khoemacau has funded the conceptualisation and development of the masterplanning which is expected to be complete by end of April 2026.
FCTN and Nhabe Museum will next embark on a local stakeholder engagement exercise to create buy-in and broker essential partnerships critical to project implementation.
