Sometimes, the greatest barrier to opportunity isn't a lack of talent, it's a lack of access to the right information.

Every day, people miss scholarships, jobs, training opportunities, funding, and mentorship simply because they never hear about them. Information has become one of the world's most valuable resources, yet it remains unevenly distributed.

At Bofelo Jacq Foundation, we believe that empowering people begins with closing this information gap. When individuals have access to knowledge, they are better equipped to make informed decisions, pursue opportunities, and create lasting change in their communities.

This journey is bigger than one post or one person. It's about building a future where access to opportunity is not determined by who you know, but by what you can learn.

In today's economy, information is no longer just power.

Information is currency.

Every day, scholarships are announced.
Jobs are advertised.
Grants are released.
Training opportunities become available.
Businesses open doors for partnerships.

Yet millions of people never benefit from these opportunities, not because they lack potential, but because they lack access to information.

This is what we call informational inequality.
The divide between those who know and those who don't.
The divide between those connected to networks and those excluded from them.
The divide between opportunity being one click away for some and completely invisible to others.

As we navigate increasingly challenging economic times, closing this gap must become a collective responsibility.

What would happen if we intentionally shared opportunities within our communities?

What if every professional committed to mentoring one person?
What if every organization ensured that information reached beyond its usual circles?

What if we stopped treating valuable information as a privilege and started treating it as a tool for empowerment?

Economic inclusion begins with information inclusion.

Before people can access opportunities, they must first know that those opportunities exist.
At BOFELO JACQ FOUNDATION, we believe that bridging informational divides is one of the most practical ways to create lasting economic empowerment and social mobility.

The question is not whether opportunities exist.
The question is: Who has access to the information that leads to them?

| Closing the Divide in Entrepreneurship: Seeing Purpose in Action |

This past weekend, as the Founder of BOFELO JACQ FOUNDATION, I had the privilege of attending the Women in Tech Top 30 Bootcamp. What made the experience particularly meaningful was witnessing, in real time, the very mission that drives our work at Bofelo Jacq Foundation: Close the Divide.

Women entrepreneurs continue to face barriers in access to funding, mentorship, networks, digital skills, and market opportunities. Yet throughout the bootcamp, I saw these divides being actively addressed through knowledge sharing, mentorship, collaboration, and empowerment.

The impact of the Dream Factory Foundation and the Standard Chartered Foundation was evident in every session, every conversation, and every connection made. By creating platforms that equip women with practical business skills, access to industry leaders, and opportunities to build meaningful networks, they are helping bridge gaps that often limit entrepreneurial growth.

I was particularly inspired to see women from diverse industries come together with a shared commitment to learning, innovation, and business excellence. Initiatives like the Women in Tech Top 30 Bootcamp do more than support individual entrepreneurs, they strengthen communities, create economic opportunities, and build a more inclusive future.

A special appreciation to Lusanda Magwape and the team for their vision and dedication to creating spaces where entrepreneurs can express themselves, learn, create, and thrive.

As I reflect on the experience, I am reminded that closing divides is not simply about providing resources; it is about creating opportunities, building confidence, and unlocking potential.

When women are empowered, businesses grow. When businesses grow, communities prosper. And when communities prosper, we all move forward together.

One divide we don’t talk about enough is the digital access gap, not just who has internet, but who knows how to use it meaningfully.

In many communities, people may have a smartphone in hand, yet still lack the skills to apply for jobs online, access educational resources, or participate in the digital economy. The result? Opportunity exists, but remains out of reach.

Closing this gap isn’t just about infrastructure. It’s about digital literacy, mentorship, and intentional inclusion.

Organizations, educators, and leaders have a role to play:
• Invest in digital skills training
• Create accessible, user-friendly platforms
• Support community-led learning initiatives
Because in a world that’s rapidly moving online, inclusion isn’t optional, it’s essential.

When we talk about education disparities we often over look infrastructure though it is the most common in most villages in botswana. We often talk about education inequality in Botswana in terms of teachers, results, or funding, but we rarely talk about the foundation everything stands on: infrastructure.

In many villages across Botswana, the real barrier to quality education isn’t just what happens in the classroom, it’s whether the classroom itself can support learning at all.

Think about it:

Schools with overcrowded or deteriorating buildings
Limited or no access to electricity
Poor internet connectivity or none at all
Inadequate sanitation facilities
Long distances students must travel just to attend school

Meanwhile, in urban areas learners benefit from better-equipped classrooms, reliable electricity, internet access, and safer, more supportive environments.

This is where the education divide truly begins.

Infrastructure shapes everything:
A student cannot fully participate in digital learning without connectivity.
A teacher cannot deliver modern lessons without basic resources.
A child cannot focus if their environment is unsafe or uncomfortable.

So when we talk about improving education outcomes, we must start by asking:
👉 Do all students have a fair learning environment?

Because without equal infrastructure, we are not offering equal education, we are widening the gap.

Closing Botswana’s education divide means investing not just in policies, but in the physical and digital spaces where learning happens every day.

SORRY STATE OF STAFF CHAIRS AT ETSHA JSS

Teaching staff room at Etsha JSS. I took these pictures today. I sat on one of these now skeletons of chairs between 1996 and 2000 as a teacher at this school. Yet we are busy spending money on luxuries. How the government decided that the newly established Education Infrastructure and Management Company was a priority over teachers' and students' welfare just beats the hell out of my mind. There is no more dignity in the teaching profession. I'm shocked!

We stand in solidarity with the voices rising across Botswana demanding justice for Tshepi.

As the BOFELO JACQ Foundation, we are deeply saddened and outraged by the circumstances surrounding the death of a 13-year-old child whose story has shaken our nation. What began as a narrative of su***de has since revealed deeply troubling evidence that calls for urgent, transparent, and uncompromising investigation.

We support the ongoing protests calling for accountability, truth, and justice, not only for Tshepi, but for every child whose voice has been silenced and every family still waiting for answers.

This is not an isolated tragedy. It reflects a broader justice divide that continues to fail vulnerable children, particularly in cases involving abuse and exploitation. We must confront the systemic gaps that allow such cases to be mishandled, delayed, or dismissed.

BOFELO JACQ Foundation reaffirm its commitment to:
• Advocate for stronger child protection systems
• Demand accountability from institutions entrusted with justice
• Support survivors and affected families
• Promote policies that ensure no child is left unheard or unprotected

Justice must not depend on visibility, influence, or persistence of public outcry. It must be consistent, accessible, and unwavering.

We call on all stakeholders, government, law enforcement, civil society, and communities, to act decisively. The time for silence has passed.
