OPEN CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR BOTSWANA NATIONAL LIBRARY SERVICE LITERARY WORKS GRANT
BACKGROUND
The Botswana National Library Service offers financial assistance towards activities that cover content or literature written by Batswana, for Batswana or addressing Botswana issues, and access thereto. The aim of the grant is to empower writers, publishers and writers groups to contribute towards economic diversification through production of various content creation initiatives.
The (BNLS) Literary Works Grant Applications Submission
Grant applications are now open for submission. Interested and eligible organisations, companies, and individuals are hereby invited to apply for possible financial support.
KEY AREAS OF FOCUS:
Applicants can apply for any one (1) of the listed key areas of focus:
1. Book production-(Covers Written work presented in a bound form, for normal or braille text).
2. E-resources – (Pieces of software for covering educational, recreational games, historical narrations and documentaries)
3. Fairs/exhibitions - (Shows for raising awareness and publishing literary works products)
4. Capacity building/life skills workshops and seminars - (Covers all forms of short term training, skills acquisition, improvement and development on areas related to literary works creative sector).
5. Competitions for readers and writers- (covers contests for reading or writing held for different levels of entrants).
6. Translations/adaptions- (Translations of written works among languages, or contextualizing for re-packaging)
ELIGIBILITY
The proposals will be considered against the following criteria;
Applicants
i. Individuals: All Batswana irrespective of age involved in literature development and content creation sectors in Botswana.
ii. Organizations legally registered with the appropriate authority (i.e. Registrar of Societies, Register of Companies and Intellectual Property), Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (C**A)
iii. Community groups/Committees (if not registered as ii) above must have the support of their Village Development Committees (VDCs).
iv. Reading and Writers Clubs: (Affiliated or registered with Botswana Writers or Readers Association)
v. Proof of compliance with register of Society Act will be required for agencies and associations.
Where applicable, copies of supporting documents required from the applicant must be submitted with the application/proposal.
SUBMISSION OF INFORMATION
Application forms can be collected from and submitted at the National Reference Library, BNLS Public and Community Libraries across the country.
Applications should be submitted NOT later than 14:30hrs on the 7th November, 2022
NB: APPLICATIONS THAT ARE NOT COMPLIANT AND SUBMITTED LATE, BY FAX OR EMAIL WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
RESPONSES TO APPLICANTS
Responses to applicants will be made by the 5th December 2022.
FUNDING
Disbursements of funds for approved projects will be done from 2nd January 2023.
