Mahalapye is gearing up for the BIG DAY- 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒊𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒅 𝑱𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒆 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 on the 30th September 2026.

Different activities that marks a united community will take place, with the objective to show and embrace the spirit of patriotism, a united and proud nation, and ignite the locals to celebrate Botswana.

As part of activities to celebrate Botswana's 60th Independence Anniversary, we will be hosting an Independence Carnival on 25th September 2026 in Mahalapye - from designated starting route to Central Business District then Main Kgotla]. The carnival procession will start at 09:00hrs.

The objective of the carnival is to unite the community, celebrate our nationhood, and showcase our artistic talents through stage performances ranging from poetry, drama, traditional music, pantsola and many more.

Activity line up:
●25th September 2026, 𝐌𝐀𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐏𝐘𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐕𝐀𝐋 ,
local artists to perform.
●27th September 2026, 𝐉𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐓 𝐂𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐂𝐇 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐄 by all churches, at Mahalapye Community Hall
●30th September 2026, 𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐘 at Mahalapye Main Kgotla local artists to perform.
●30th September 2026, 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡

We are pleased to announce that our newly appointed Chairperson for Mahalapye Central VDC, Mr Boniface Disho has been once again elected as the new Mahalapye Umbrella VDC Chairperson. Umbrella VDC is established in accordance with the provisions of the VDC regulations, its key role is the coordination of VDCs.

We are honoured of this new role that has been bestowed upon Mr Disho; With his passion, dedication and commitment to serve the community of Mahalapye we trust he will provide both the strategic leadership and guidance to the entire VDCs to align their planning and implementation with the development agenda of the Ministry of Local Government, subsequent complaince of the new VDC regulations.

Mr Disho values the responsibility that comes with the position and the trust that VDC Chairpersons have placed in him.

Leadership is not about portfolio, rather it is about effecting positive change, growth, prosperity through good service and discipline,
