We wish to inform stakeholders and the public that the Botswana National Debate Team will not be participating at the 2026 World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC) scheduled for 14th–24th July 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya, due to funding challenges.

We remain grateful for the trust and confidence placed in us by the World Schools Debating Board and appreciate the dedication of the students, coaches, and the entire Botswana debating community throughout this journey.

We extend our best wishes to all participating nations, especially our fellow African countries, as they represent the continent on the global stage.

Teemane Oratory Academy remains committed to building the next generation of critical thinkers, speakers, and leaders.

🇧🇼 ANNOUNCING TEAM BOTSWANA FOR WSDC 2026 🇧🇼

We are proud to announce the 2026 Botswana World Schools Debating Championship Team, which will be representing the nation at the World Schools Debating Championship in Kenya.

This is a historic moment for Botswana debate. After close to 15 years since Botswana last qualified for the World Schools Debating Championship, our young debaters now have the opportunity to carry the national flag on one of the biggest global debate stages.

However, for this dream to become a reality, the team needs your support.

We are currently raising funds to cover the team’s participation costs, including travel, accommodation, registration, meals, and other essential expenses. Every contribution, big or small, brings Team Botswana one step closer to Kenya.

The Botswana Debate Team had the incredible opportunity to be featured on Gabz-FM to discuss our preparations for the 2026 World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC), set to take place in Nairobi, Kenya from the 14th to the 24th July 2026. 🇧🇼🎙️🇰🇪

The interview was attended by the National Team Captain, Losika Mbaakanyi, and the National Team Manager, Tshiamo Brian Badubi, who shared insights on the team’s journey, preparation process, and Botswana’s ambitions on the global debating stage.

As we continue preparing to represent Botswana among the world’s best young debaters, we remain committed to excellence, teamwork, and raising the national flag high.

Following a highly competitive round of national trials, we are proud to announce the exceptional students who have qualified for the next stage of the Botswana National Debate Team selection process.

These debaters will advance to an intensive Selection Camp scheduled to take place from 17th – 19th April 2026 where they will undergo rigorous training, assessment, and mentorship as we edge closer to final team selection. 🔥

Do you have what it takes to wear the national colors and represent Botswana on the world stage?

The WSDC Botswana National Debate Team trials will be held on 28th March 2026 at Lotsane Senior School in Palapye. This will serve as the final selection round for students seeking to be part of the team that will represent Botswana at the World Schools Debate Championship (WSDC) 2026.

The championship is scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 14th to 24th July 2026, and will bring together participants from over 120 countries, making it one of the most prestigious global platforms for school-level debating.

All eligible students are encouraged to register and participate in this final stage of the selection process.
