A woman of many firsts, today on International Womens day we celebrate women and we celebrate one of our own an icon the Late Dr Gaositwe Chiepe ๐ง๐ผโค๏ธ
Throughout her career ,Dr Chiepe was an advocate for womenโs rights ,both in Botswana and across Africa.She worked tirelessly to promote the empowerment of women and girls focusing on issues such as access to education,healthcare and political participation.Today on womenโs day we celebrate and honor a woman ,a mother of the land ๐ง๐ผ who played a critical role in developing the Country.Born in Serowe 1922 Dr Chiepe was the first Motswana woman to earn a college degree and later a masters degree.She was a first director of education,She was also one of the first two female Members of parliament and Cabinet Minister.She was the only woman from either Africa or common wealth to be the head of a diplomatic mission in London.An educator ,a diplomat,and a diamond to Botswanaโค๏ธ๐ง๐ผwe appreciate her contribution on women leadership and education.
