The Demystifying Industrial Attachment Seminar hosted by Hult Prize club at University of Botswana_Official in partnership with FutureGen Supply Chain Forum was more than just a conversation about attachment it was a masterclass on growth, relevance, innovation, and professionalism preparing students going for June attachments.
From learning how to stand out within the first three weeks, to understanding the importance of being multi-skilled, proactive, and visible in the workplace, our speakers shared powerful real-life experiences that challenged students to think beyond simply completing attachment hours.
Mr Katlo Kind emphasized the importance of changing your mindset from “just a student” to becoming an equal contributor in the workplace. He shared how understanding all systems , identifying flaws within a system and proposing practical solutions made him stand out proving that innovation and initiative to create impact.
Nothando shared her inspiring journey from not having interest in procurement prior to her attachment to becoming actively involved in executive meetings, improving filing systems, handling tender documentation, and eventually developing a passion for growth and excellence in procurement at Bank of Botswana during her attachment .
Mr Willington R Kesebilwe highlighted the realities of workplace pressure and the importance of linking academic knowledge to real-world application. His story showed how initiative, integrity, and analytical thinking opened doors for him in procurement oversight and systems improvement at Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital to now working as a procurement analyst in the banking industry .
Ms Nkosimphile, representing UB LOSCMA, shared insights from her attachment experience at Debswana Head Office and spoke on the importance of networking, mentorship, and student clubs in shaping professional growth.
