Vaya and UB SRC have entered a formal partnership to introduce a dedicated public transport service through the University of Botswana campus. The initiative will see Vaya-registered combis operating an evening route through campus, giving students a safe, cashless, and reliable way to travel to and from the university after hours.
Starting from 16:30 each afternoon, combis will run simultaneously in both directions every 15 minutes, from the Main Gate through FD Park to the Nanogang Gate, and back with the last departure at 21:00. At any given interval, at least two combis will be in service, ensuring students travelling in either direction are catered for at the same time. All trips are trackable in real time and payable via the Vaya App.
The next step is that through the partnership, registered UB students will receive a discounted fare accessible through the Vaya App upon verification of their student status, making the service not only convenient, but affordable. Engagements are ongoing on developing a working model to enable discounts in the near future and extending trips to 2200hrs depending on user demands.
