Shiv Charitable Society Conducts 8th Free Eye Camp and Community Donation Drive in Mmankgodi, Botswana

Shiv Charitable Society successfully conducted its 8th Free Eye Camp and Community Donation Drive in Botswana, reaffirming its commitment to improving the health, dignity and wellbeing of vulnerable communities.
The initiative combined eye care, mobility assistance, food support and menstrual health assistance, benefiting hundreds of community members.
A total of 221 elderly persons, schoolchildren and underprivileged community members received free eye testing during the eye camp. The programme aimed to promote early detection of vision problems and improve access to essential eye-care services.
As part of the humanitarian donation drive, the Society donated 12 wheelchairs to individuals with mobility challenges, helping provide greater independence and mobility.
The Society also distributed 151 food hampers, each containing seven essential items — rice, mealie meal, cooking oil, macaroni, mayonnaise, tomato sauce and a pack of toilet paper — to deserving families.
Approximately 500 lunch packs, accompanied by bottled water and soft drinks, were provided to villagers attending the programme.
In another important initiative supporting the health, dignity and education of young girls, 2,500 sanitary pads were distributed to schoolgirls.
The programme brought together community members, volunteers, healthcare professionals, donors and well-wishers in a collective effort to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.
Speaking on the occasion, the Society emphasised that its community initiatives are guided by the principle of “Service to Humanity, is service to God”, with a focus on reaching those who need support the most.
Shiv Charitable Society expressed its heartfelt appreciation to the hon. Minister, Deputy High Commissioner from the India High Commission Gaborone, hon. Councillors, optometrists and healthcare professionals, donors, volunteers, community members and supporters whose contribution helped make the 8th Free Eye Camp and donation drive a success.
The Society remains committed to continuing its humanitarian and community welfare initiatives in Botswana and looks forward to expanding its outreach to more communities in the future.
