💙💛 BSD Brings Love, Dignity and Hope to Serinane Community
The Botswana Society for the Deaf (BSD) had the privilege of visiting the Serinane Community yesterday to share a donation of clothes, toiletries and snacks with community members, including persons with disabilities, older persons and other less privileged members of the community.
The event opened with a prayer led by the Ministerial Fraternal , setting the tone for a day centred on love, unity, service and community.
The BSD team was warmly welcomed by the village leadership and community members, who came out in great numbers. Among the leaders and stakeholders present were Kgosi Lekolwane, Kgosi Saborole, Hon. Councellor Lekolwane, Ms. Tiro (Nurse), Ms. Andrew (Social Worker), Ms. Pilane (Tribal Secretary), Mr. Tsheboyagae (VDC Chairperson), the Vice VDC Chairperson, VDC members, members of the Ministerial Fraternal, Police Officer Mr. Olebogeng, and Ms. Bosielo from Agriculture.
Kgosi Lekolwane thanked BSD for the generous gesture and appreciated the community for coming out in great numbers.
❤️ A Message of Love, Dignity and Inclusion
BSD Executive Director, Ms. O. L. Mokgosi, shared a powerful message on love, dignity, inclusion and the rights of persons with disabilities.
She reflected that although nobody knew BSD would be in Serinane that day, “God knew.” She thanked the village leadership for consistently welcoming BSD and being available whenever the organisation visits the community.
Ms. Mokgosi emphasised that every person has rights and dignity, including the Deaf community and persons with disabilities. She called on the community to reject discrimination, avoid hurtful language and support persons with disabilities to know and exercise their rights under the Persons with Disabilities Act 2024.

She explained that BSD is a charitable organisation advocating for the rights of Deaf persons and receives support from the Government, companies and individuals. Having first shared with the Deaf community, BSD felt it was important to extend that spirit of giving to the wider Serinane community.
The donation was therefore more than clothes, toiletries and snacks—it was about restoring dignity, spreading hope and reminding every person that they matter.
She further appealed to the community to continue praying for BSD, asking God to increase our capacity to serve, give, and make a greater impact. Indeed, a blessed hand is a hand that gives. May God bless BSD with the opportunity to return to Serinane once again, with even greater gifts and an even greater impact.
🩺 Health Sensitisation
Ms. Ramme, Nurse, sensitised the community on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), explaining what they are, their causes and how they can be prevented.
She emphasised the importance of regular health check-ups and encouraged community members not to ignore or try to manage health conditions they do not fully understand. She also shared that cervical cancer screening can now be done at the clinic, encouraging women to make use of this important service and seek medical attention when necessary.
In her vote of thanks, Hon. Councilor Ms. Lekolwane expressed appreciation to BSD for visiting and supporting the community. She noted that both children and adults in the community will be recognised and included in future initiatives.
She also invited BSD to join the community during the Independence celebrations, where BSD would be welcomed to come and share a meal with the community. She encouraged everyone to receive the gifts with gratitude, recognising the love and generosity behind the donation.
The programme concluded with a closing prayer led by the Ministerial Fraternal, bringing the meaningful community gathering to a close.
