This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, DMF Community Network joins the call to raise awareness about breast cancer, encourage early detection, and remind our communities that knowledge can save lives.

Through our Healthy Horizons programme, we believe that health awareness begins with informed communities, open conversations, and the courage to seek medical attention when something does not feel right.

We honour every survivor, stand in solidarity with those currently fighting breast cancer, and remember those whose lives have been lost to this disease.

Today, DMF Community Network joins Batswana at home and across the world in celebrating 60 years of Botswana’s Independence. 🇧🇼

Six decades of nationhood remind us that a country is not built by its leaders alone—it is built by its people, communities, families, children and young people who choose to care, serve, create and make a difference.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also look ahead with hope and purpose. At DMF Community Network, we believe that a stronger Botswana begins in our communities: where children know their rights, young people are empowered, women and men are supported, families are strengthened, and communities are given opportunities to grow.

The David Mogoma Foundation (DMF) was privileged to be part of civil society organisations that participated in the three-day consultation in Gaborone on Botswana’s consideration of accession to the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness.

From a community perspective, this conversation is deeply important to us. Through our work with communities, children and young people, we have witnessed how challenges around nationality and documentation can affect people’s ability to fully access education, employment, social services and other basic rights.

The consultation provided an important space for civil society to bring community experiences and grassroots perspectives into the national conversation. For DMF, it reinforced the importance of listening to those affected, strengthening legal and administrative safeguards, and ensuring that no one is left without a nationality.

We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important process and to be part of efforts towards a Botswana where everyone’s right to a nationality is recognised and protected.

DMF as an attendee of the recent 2 days creative kgotla workshop, we were so encouraged to see the dedication and enthusiasm of the National Arts Council of Botswana in supporting the development of the creative arts industry.

I strongly encourage other civil servants organizations to come forward and join the efforts to nurture this industry. Together, we can create a thriving creative economy that benefits both artists and the wider community
