Botswana Tamil Cultural Association Trust BTCAT Today Tamil speaking people are spread all over the world. Beginnings.. These events are conducted in the month of April & October every year.

Tamil is an ancient language, which is spoken as its regional language in countries like India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Burma and Mauritius. In 1984 an association started with a few Tamil Speaking residents in Botswana and was registered under the Registration of Societies Regulations on 27th May 1992 with the following major objectives. Any Tamil speaking resident in Botswana

who is above the age of 18 can become the member of this association buy paying annual subscription. The members in the Annual General Meeting of the Association elect the executive committee members who would manage the activities of the association up holding its aims and objectives. Adhering to the objectives the association has been conducting the following activities for the past 18years. Tamil Class: Tamil classes are being conducted on every Saturday, for all the children who wish to learn this ancient & classical language. Chitirai & Kalai Vizha: The word “Chitirai” refers to the first month of the Tamil Calender & “Kalai” refers to any art like Music, dance and drama. Children from Tamil speaking community perform on this occasion. Religious functions: The association every year celebrates Christmas function and Thai Pongal (a festival for farmers). Botswana Tamil Cultural Association is committed, as being part of this society to work towards VISION 2016.
