At the 9th Botswana International HIV Conference , Dr Goabaone Rankgoane Pono made a compelling case for innovative financing for HIV, highlighting that growing financing gaps and dependence on traditional donor funding threaten the sustainability of hard-won gains in the HIV response.

The presentation emphasized the need to rethink financing through domestic resource mobilisation, public-private partnerships, outcome-based and blended financing, operational efficiency, market-shaping and digital health innovations—with a strong focus on achieving measurable results, value for money and sustainable country-led HIV programmes.
