• French language courses are offered year-round and emphasize conversational French.

✨ Learning while having fun: French at the heart of public education! ✨

Since November 2025, the Alliance Française de Gaborone has been operating at Camp Primary School, making it the only public primary school in the country to offer French classes to its students! 🇧🇼 🇫🇷
Launched under the initiative of the Alliance Française de Gaborone, this unique project is the result of a close collaboration between the Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education and the Alliance Française de Gaborone, in partnership with Veolia Botswana, Botho University, and Dell Korse.

Last Wednesday, the students enjoyed a very special session! Four facilitators from the Alliance Française, including two French interns, came to host an afternoon of fun educational activities. On the agenda: learning a French song, discovering numbers through games, and identifying the flags of French-speaking countries with a memory game. 🎶 🧠 🗺️
To top it all off, each child received a “Passport of the Francophonie” to symbolize their journey around the French-speaking world, and the day ended with a delicious shared afternoon snack to reward everyone for their amazing efforts! 🥞 🥤

🇫🇷🇧🇼 A new partnership for Botswana's tourism industry
On 16 June 2026, Alliance Française de Gaborone and the Hospitality and Tourism Association of Botswana (HATAB) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding at HATAB's offices in Gaborone.
Signed by Lily Rakorong, CEO of HATAB, and Anne-Charlotte Monneret, Director of Alliance Française de Gaborone, this partnership aims to strengthen collaboration between the French language sector and Botswana's tourism and hospitality industry.
With nearly 400 million French speakers worldwide and France remaining one of the world's leading outbound tourism markets, French language skills can offer a real competitive advantage for tourism professionals.
Through this partnership, we will work together to:
✅ Promote French language training for tourism and hospitality professionals
✅ Develop the French for Tourism programme, part of our French for Professionals offer accredited by the Paris Île-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry
✅ Support interpretation and translation services for operators, guides and tourism events
✅ Strengthen professional skills and service excellence across the sector

During our last Café des Langues, brains were buzzing to beat the clock! ⏱️🧠 The challenge? Finding words starting with the exact same letter in French, English, and Setswana. 🇫🇷🇬🇧🇧🇼
It was the perfect way to build bridges between cultures, explore the beautiful richness of world languages, and pick up new vocabulary while having a blast. Proof that French is creative, joyful, incredibly useful, and knows absolutely no borders! 🌍✨

Join us for the opening of Threaded in Culture, a contemporary art exhibition showcasing the works of Botswana artists Boemo Lunga and Goemeone Modisane. Through thread, mixed media, and painting, the exhibition explores cultural identity, heritage, memory, and the enduring influence of Setswana traditions on contemporary life. The exhibition will be available for viewing until the 3rd of July.
