On behalf of Women Lead Africa where Mpule is our Founder and Director we join the continent in appreciation of her service and for proudly flying the Botswana flag.

Mpule, our sister and colleague, today we celebrate you as you conclude your tenure as the African Union Youth Ambassador for Peace for Southern Africa. This moment is not just a farewell to a role it is a recognition of the legacy you have built with courage, conviction and an unshakeable love for this continent.

You have carried Southern Africa with grace. You have spoken truth with clarity. You have created room where none existed, opening doors for young people whose voices now echo because you first made space for them. Your leadership has shown that a person is remembered not by their title and not by their position but by the impact of their service and your impact will continue to shape the AU youth peace architecture long after your term ends.

Botswana is proud of you proud of the standard you have set, the dignity you have carried and the hope you have represented for so many across Africa.

Your journey as Youth Ambassador may be closing but your legacy is only beginning. Keep shining, keep leading and keep loving this continent the way you always have.

Women Lead Africa participated in this important post-budget dialogue hosted by the Botswana National Youth Council- BNYC In partnership with BOCONGO . The engagement followed the National Budget Speech delivered on Monday by the Minister of Finance also the Vice President Ndaba Gaolathe.

Our contribution centred on highlighting the realities facing young women in Botswana especially the need for a national budget that meaningfully responds to gendered economic vulnerabilities, rising youth unemployment and the increasing cost of living.

We also underscored the importance of gender-responsive budgeting, transparent public finance management and intentional inclusion of women and youth voices in setting national priorities. Strengthening collaboration between civil society, Parliament and the Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs remains key to ensuring accountability, and to making sure that national resources reflect the needs of those most affected.

Women Lead Africa remains committed to amplifying youth and women’s perspectives in national policy spaces and contributing to a more equitable, accountable and inclusive fiscal landscape.

Women Lead Africa joins the launch of “African Union and Agenda 2063: The Past, Present and Future” at the 3rd African Union Studies Annual Symposium in Johannesburg, South Africa!

We were honored to be part of this important conversation reflecting on the African Union’s 20-year journey from its founding in 2002 to its ongoing mission to deliver peace, prosperity and unity across the continent.

Book Link : https://ujonlinepress.uj.ac.za/index.php/ujp/catalog/book/283

The book offers a powerful assessment of the AU’s achievements and challenges under Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want, exploring milestones like the AfCFTA and unfinished goals such as Free Movement of Persons and Silencing the Guns.

As Women Lead Africa, we believe that women’s voices and leadership are central to realizing the Pan-African vision and building the Africa we dream of.

Women Lead Africa is proud to have our Trustee representing us at the African Feminist Macroeconomic Academy (AFMA) 2025 in Accra Ghana 🇬🇭 convened by FEMNET Femnet Secretariat

This gathering brings together African minds to unpack feminist political economy, tax justice and the reimagining of Africa’s economies through a feminist lens. These conversations are vital to ensuring that our continent’s development is not only sustainable but also just and inclusive.

As Women Lead Africa, we remain committed to advancing feminist leadership and amplifying African women’s voices in shaping policy and economic transformation.
