This yearโ€™s theme โ€œ๐—Ÿ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ง๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐˜€โ€ reminds us that every life lost or changed forever in a road crash takes away not only a person, but also their dreams, creativity, and potential to make our world a better place. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’›

โ˜‘๏ธ To support your activities, we have prepared a comprehensive toolkit filled with ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—บ๐—บ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜€ โ€” posters, social media visuals, videos, billboards, and citylights. You can find them here: https://worlddayofremembrance.org/

In the toolkit, you will find materials that you may freely translate, adapt, or enhance. Either on your own or with the help of a designer.

๐Ÿค Letโ€™s unite once again to remember the victims, support the bereaved and injured, and take action for Vision Zero โ€“ no more deaths or serious injuries on our roads.

During a Safe System focused parallel session at the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Morocco, Dr Jess Truong of Global NCAP provided a series of compelling examples of urban speed limit reductions in Helsinki, Oslo and across Wales where 30 Km/h speed limits have been introduced. These have achieved spectacular reductions in fatalities and severe injuries.

These lifesaving initiatives have not always been supported, but courageous and evidence-led politicians have stood their ground. Conversely, there are sad examples of irresponsible politicians who have ignored the evidence abdicating their responsibility to protect their communities and are attempting to reverse lifesaving speed limit reductions.

Dr Truong explained that human bodies are fragile and there are known tolerances before people break resulting in deaths and life altering injuries. The safe system accommodates human tolerances and the fact that people make mistakes.
