IOM Botswana and the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs hosted a national consultation, supported by the EU Delegation to Botswana, bringing together key government stakeholders to advance the next phase of Botswana’s Global Compact for Migration implementation.

Discussions focused on defining implementation priorities, developing a clear roadmap, and leveraging the SADC Global Compact for Migration and Regional Migration Policy Framework (GCM/RMPF) Matrix to strengthen national follow-up and contribute to regional reporting.

The consultation marked an important step towards translating policy commitments into coordinated action and measurable progress.

Strengthening partnerships for impactful research and collaboration

IOM Botswana recently met with Professor Doreen Ramogola-Masire, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise at the University of Botswana_Official, to explore opportunities for strengthened collaboration.

Discussions focused on advancing research on migration governance and promoting joint capacity-building initiatives. Potential collaboration was also identified in border management and counter-trafficking, including engagement with the University’s Institute for Combatting Illicit Financial Flows (ICIFF).

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continued partnership in areas of mutual interest.🇧🇼🤝
