Nyaa tota, reverting to 16 would bring back a contradiction that was fixed in 2018,kana a 16-year-old cannot vote, marry without consent, or sign contracts, yet they'd be old enough to sleep with a 40-year-old🧐??

The 2018 amendment aligned us with international standards and closed that loophole,so going back would undo that progress and leave more young girls and boys as well vulnerable to exploitation. We can't call them children everywhere else, then treat them as adults when it comes to sex💀!

A HEADMASTER FOND OF TOUCHING FEMALE STUDENTS INDECENTLY WILL SOON DANCE WHEN THE LAW POUNCES ON HIM

A school headmaster at a secondary school in Francistown will soon face the wrath of the low for INDECENTLY touching students. As if that is not enough the demon in him is fond of busting inside girls toilets when they change attire for PE. What does the bookworm in the headmaster wants to see from naked students🙄👀🤔

As a youth advocate and children’s rights activistI strongly welcome and applaud the decision by the DPP to end withdrawals in defilement cases 👏🏽 This is a bold and necessary step towards protecting our children and restoring dignity to victims who have for too long been silenced through pressure, fear or out-of-court settlements. Crimes against minors are not private matters they are violations of fundamental human rights and they demand firm, consistent justice ⚖️

This move aligns with the broader mandate of institutions like UNICEF Botswana and Botswana Police Service as well as the efforts of the Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs BW and Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs - Botswana who all play a critical role in safeguarding children and ensuring that justice systems are responsive and victim-centered. Strengthening collaboration between these bodies is key to ensuring that such policies do not just exist on paper but translate into real protection on the ground.

Going forward there is still more to be done 💡 We need stronger victim support systems including counseling and safe reporting channels, continuous training for law enforcement and judicial officers on handling sensitive cases and widespread community awareness campaigns to challenge harmful norms that enable silence. Schools, churches, and youth organizations must also step up as safe spaces where children can speak out without fear.

This decision is a powerful foundation but its true impact will depend on how well we implement, support and sustain it. Let’s keep pushing for a system where every child is protected, heard, and given justice they deserve 🙌🏽

Congratulations to the newly elected UBSRC Cabinet 2026/27 led by President Neville Sechele. This victory is not just a personal achievement but a call to serve, to lead and to represent every student with integrity and purpose. You have been entrusted with a responsibility that goes beyond titles because it is about impact, unity and transformation.

As you step into office remember that leadership demands humility. Political differences may exist but the mission must remain bigger than individual opinions or pride. This is the time to rise above divisions to listen more than you speak and to choose collaboration over conflict. True leadership is not about who is right, but about what is right for the people you serve.

Swallow the pride where necessary extend grace to one another and build a culture of respect within your cabinet. When you work together, you become a powerful force; when you are divided, the very students who placed their trust in you are the ones who suffer.

You are now the voice for the voiceless. Speak boldly, act justly and lead with courage. Let your term be remembered not for disagreements but for unity, progress and meaningful change.

The students are watching. The time to deliver is now.
