PART 2: THE UNION
ARTICLE 1.0: FOUNDING PROVISION
Name and Office
The name of the Union shall be CONFEDERATION OF AMALGAMATED PRIVATE SECTOR WORKERS UNION, hereinafter referred to as “The Union or CAPSWU”
Its Headquarters shall be in Bobonong or at any other place as shall be determined by the C.E.C.
The Union shall be a body corporate with perpetual succession capable of entering into contractual and other relations and suing in its own name.
It shall hold property separated from members and shall be an organization not for gain
The liability of members shall be limited to the amount of subscription not or other moneys due to the Union at any time in terms of this Constitution.
Our objective Is To Emancipate The Poor Working Class Family From The Chains Of Slavery That Have Been Meted On The Workers Since Slavery.
The Following Are Our Union Main Objectives :
Our Constitution And Botswana Labour Laws (Act's) Allow Confederation Of Amalgamated Private Sector Worker's Union To Organize Or Recruit Members In The Following Sectors Without Limitations As Per The Bellow Article Of The Union Constitution:
ARTICLE 2.0: OBJECTIVES:

In relation to the Union per se:
Objectives:
To secure total organization of all eligible members employed in the following sectors:
1. Hotel And Hospitality
2. Lodge And Game Camps
3. Ranch And Agricultural Farms
4. Chain And Retail Stores /Supermarkets
5. Wholesalers
6. Food Outlets
7. Fuel Filling Stations
8. Factories
9.
10. Private Security And Or Other, Parastatals And Private Sector in Botswana.
Aims :
A. To build a democratic worker-controlled and membership-centered organization based on the membership participation on policy formulation, decisions making and implementation.
B. To facilitate and/or coordinate the acquisition of a diversity of knowledge and skills through training in order to empower members for meaningful participation in the Union.
To protect and advance workers interests in the workplace and all other areas of the working class struggle.
C. To develop and maintain a union free of any discrimination and/or unequal treatment with respect to race, place of origin, political opinions, color, creed, gender, disability, age, class or any arbitrary ground
D. To develop and maintain solidarity with other trade and staff associations nationality and internationally and to affiliate anybody or federation of trade unions that advance the cause of the working class.
In relation to the workers:
To bargain with the employer on the following matters; remuneration and other terms and conditions of employment, including the physical conditions under which employees are required to work. Employment benefits, employment policies, concerning, inter alia, the recruitment, appointments, training transfers, promotion, suspension, discipline and dismissal of employees.
To strive for just standards of living, social and economic security/justice and fair conditions of work for workers.
To engage employees in order to promote and protect the interest of union members through negotiations, mediation and/or through industrial action in accordance with this constitution and any legislative provision governing engagement in industrial action in Botswana.
To build international working class solidarity by representing members and collaborating with other unions at national and international level.
