Bhutan Cancer Society For Well-Informed Society EMPOWERMENT THROUGH KNOWLEDGE & HOPE no: CSOA/PBO-37). Objectives:

1.

Bhutan Cancer Society (BCS) is a public benefit organization (PBO) registered with Civil Society Organizations Authority of Bhutan (reg. BCS works on creating enabling environment to improve cancer care and support, and reduce incidence of cancer and premature deaths due to cancer through prevention, advocacy and research. Optimize prevention of cancer in collaboration with national and internatio

nal stakeholders through education, advocacy and research.

2. Provide social, spiritual, psychological and financial support (where needed) to cancer patients and caregivers.

3.Advocate and mobilize resources for cancer prevention, treatment, care and support.

4.Enhance quality of life for terminal cancer patients through care and support

5.Make available most accurate cancer information for both health care providers and cancer patients.

Expanding the proejct scope and reach to hydropower sector, the BCS successfully completed sensitization program on occupational cancer risk prevention to 108 staff of Punatsangchu-I and Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project Authority in Bjimithangkha.

Dr. Tashi Dendup, Consultant Surgical Oncologist delivered the session on Occupation Cancer, Risks, Mitigation and Preventive Measures.

The project is funded and supported by Bhutan Foundation under their Small Grant Program 2025.

๐Œ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ก๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐…๐ข๐ง๐š๐ง๐œ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐€๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž under the support area ๐‹๐จ๐ ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐œ & ๐„๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐š๐ฅ is the third support activity streamlined for the BCSโ€™ Care & Support programme.

Patients from low income background undergoing active treatment or receiving Palliative Care are provided with this support as a temporary measure in addressing challenges associated to accommodations and out-of-pocket expenses during their stay at the treatment center. .

Patient A, our beneficiary since 2025 - a juvenile battling leg tumor passed away and the family was provided with Bereavement Support.

Patient B, another beneficiary since 2025 - a 70 years old elderly citizen battling throat cancer was provided with transportation support for his medical follow-up, and

Patient C, a 4 years old minor under maintenance chemotherapy was provided with transportation support for his routine treatment.
