# Appointment of Chief Executive Officer – Norion Renewable Energy Limited

The Board of Norion Renewable Energy Limited (NREL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Pema Wangchuk as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NREL, effective today.

The Board, Management, and employees of NREL extend their warmest congratulations to Mr. Pema Wangchuk on his appointment and wish him every success in leading the company towards achieving its strategic objectives and contributing to Bhutan’s renewable energy development.

Prior to his appointment as CEO, Mr. Pema served as the Project Director of the DSP Solar Initiative and as the Interim CEO of NREL, where he played a key role in the planning, development and implementation of Phase III & IV Solar Initiative Projects.

Mr. Pema brings approximately 15 years of professional experience in Bhutan’s power and renewable energy sector, primarily with Bhutan Power Corporation Limited (BPC). During his tenure with BPC, he served in various capacities across transmission, distribution, planning, and renewable energy development projects. He was also involved in pilot renewable energy projects in Bhutan, including the country’s first 600 kW wind power project at Rubessa and the pilot 200-kW solar power project at Rubessa.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the College of Science and Technology under the Royal University of Bhutan, and a Master of Engineering in Electrical/Power Engineering from RMIT University, Australia, pursued under the prestigious Australia Awards Scholarship.

His strong academic background, coupled with technical expertise in renewable energy, power systems, project development, and corporate experience, positions him to lead NREL as the company expands its renewable energy portfolio and contributing towards Bhutan’s long-term energy security and sustainable energy development.

NREL congratulates Mr. Pema Wangchuk on his appointment and wishes him a successful and impactful tenure as Chief Executive Officer(CEO).

Coinciding with an auspicious Z***r today, Norion Renewable Energy Limited (NREL) successfully commissioned the 671.58 kWp Rooftop Solar (RTS) Project at the Royal Bhutan Army(RBA), Head Quarters , Lungtenphu under the Phase IV Solar Initiative Project.

The project was planned, designed, and implemented entirely in-house by Norion Renewable Energy Limited (NREL), Desuung Skilling Programme (DSP), His Majesty's Secretariat (HMS). The project was delivered through the skilling and engagement of solar Desuups, with a total investment of Nu. 23.505 million.

This royal solar initiative project (RSIP) marks another significant milestone in advancing Bhutan's renewable energy capacity development and reinforces the nation's commitment to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable energy future.

📣 Norion Ventures into Private Residential Rooftop Solar Installations.
