As we bid farewell to Sherab Lhamo Dorji, a joint-degree student at Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs and Yale School of the Environment, we celebrate the completion of her summer internship with the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTF).

Over the summer, Sherab contributed to monitoring, evaluation and learning processes, reviewed grant proposals, supported consultations and workshops, and contributed to work exploring innovative financing for large-scale ecological restoration in Bhutan. Her experience offered a deeper perspective on the complex relationship between conservation, development, communities and institutions.

The three current interns, Pema, Kelsang and Sarita, also presented their reflections on BTF’s six core values: Stewardship, Innovation, Transparency, Adaptability, Collaboration and Neutrality, highlighting how BTF’s projects and activities bring these values to life.

We thank Sherab for her valuable contributions and wish her every success ahead, while welcoming the continued curiosity and energy of our interns as they learn, contribute and grow with BTF.

BTF interns and youth participants share their reflections and key takeaways from the Workshop on Ethical and Effective Community Engagement, held in Thimphu on 9–10 July 2026 and jointly organized by the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTF), the Department of Forests and Park Services (DoFPS), the Ethical Conservation Alliance (ECA), and the Snow Leopard Trust (SLT).

🎥 Conceptualized, filmed, and produced by BTF interns, this video captures the voices of the next generation of conservation champions as they reflect on what they learned and why ethical, community-centred conservation matters.

When the rains don’t stop, communities feel the impact first.

From flooded roads to disrupted livelihoods, extreme weather reminds us of the importance of resilience, preparedness, and collective action. Every story matters, and every step toward climate adaptation counts.
