The Green ECCD Centre concept is based on the idea of a child-friendly early learning environment that promotes sustainability, environmental responsibility and a deep connection with nature through everyday practices and experiences. Rooted in Bhutanese values of harmony with nature and Gross National Happiness, the centre uses natural materials, eco-friendly spaces, waste reduction practices, energy and water conservation and strong community participation to nurture environmentally conscious young children, who are also resilient to natural calamities such as climate change
The Green ECCD Centre contributes to shaping positive attitudes and habits during the early years, when children are most receptive to learning values and behaviours. Engaging children environment and climate change education and activities such as gardening, recycling, nature exploration and caring for living things, helps build empathy, responsibility, curiosity, problem-solving skills and resilience. Its impact extends beyond the ECCD Centres and classrooms, influencing families and communities to adopt sustainable practices and creating a generation of children who value and protect the rich natural environment for the future. @topfans , change,
