The impact of Goods and Services Tax (GST) is being felt most immediately and viscerally in the agriculture and livestock sector, where even a modest five percent tax has begun to ripple through the entire food system, from feed mills and fertiliser depots to farms, markets, and households confusing the people across the country.

Under GST Amendment Act 2025, all sorts of animal feed, fertilisers, seeds, and agricultural machinery are no longer zero-rated. They now attract a uniform five percent tax, a major shift from the previous sales tax regime, where many agricultural inputs were taxed at zero percent.

The secretariat of Bhutan Exporters Association is proud to announce that the proposal of export of few indigenous spices all the way to Middle-east and as far as Europe countries has been submitted to the highest authority.

Concurred, such trade will be understood as "Benefit-Sharing Scheme" with benefit trickling down to farmers.

The time has come for exporters to roll up their sleeves or to sharpen their axes to diversify their market.

At the service of the Nation.
