Gelephu HSS warmly welcomed Leadership Trainer (LT) Jigme Thaye Choden of class 9 D who has undergone 21st leadership training at National Scout Centre, Paro starting from 1st -21st of July(3weeks).
Her LT journey……
First of all, I want to say a heartfelt thank you for welcoming me back so warmly after three unforgettable weeks of training.
Let me take you on a quick journey through these incredible three weeks.
First of all thank you so much for the warm welcome after what has been the most intense, wild, hilarious, painful, and beautiful three weeks of my life.
Let me take you through the journey a rollercoaster of endurance, adventure, survival, and of course… a bit of Thaye fame!
Week 1: Endurance Week
Right from Day One, they weren’t playing around.
It was all about hard work, discipline, and let’s be honest getting shouted at every hour. We carried logs, ran till we couldn’t breathe, woke up before the sun, and sweated till our uniforms could stand on their own.
But through all the pain, we learned resilience. We learned that the body gives up way before the mind does and if you push, even when it’s tough, you grow.
Week 2: Adventure & Survival Week
This week was pure and a little bit of chaos.
We started with rafting, which honestly felt more like a water fight with the river. If you didn’t fall out of the boat, you weren’t paddling hard enough!
Then came rappelling 90 meters first, and then 300 meters. Standing on that edge, I questioned every life decision I had made. But once I landed safely, I felt like Spider-Man... if Spider-Man screamed the whole way down.
Then the legendary hike to Paro Taktsang. Beautiful, spiritual, and absolutely exhausting. I swear the steps were increasing on their own!
We even had gun-firing training. They handed me a real gun. I held it like a pro, aimed… BANG! I got only one shot. That’s it. Just one. The bullet went somewhere. The target? Still untouched.
But the highlight? Survival training.
We learned how to survive in the wild no food, no bed, just you, the forest, and whatever creativity you could find.
We made shelter from leaves, filtered water with socks, and cooked mystery meals that even the birds didn’t want. But we did it and it was epic.
Now, during all this… something unexpected happened.
I somehow became the most famous person in the entire camp.
Everywhere I went, people were shouting “THAYE!”
From the tents to the fields to the toilets - it was “Thaye this, Thaye that.”
I didn’t know if I was a legend or just loud - but hey, fame is fame!
Week 3: Departure Week
This was the most emotional part.
We practiced daily for our POP — Passing Out Parade, shoes shining, salutes sharp, and pride glowing in all of us.
We also had aerobic dances and songs we danced till our legs gave up, and sang until our voices cracked. But it was the most fun I’ve had in ages.
Then came one of the best events:
The Fancy Period.
Now let me tell you this was no ordinary show.
Everyone came dressed in things that made absolutely no sense in the best way.
Clothes made from rice bags, snack packets, leaves, strings it was like a fashion show straight out of a recycling bin.
But they looked amazing.
It was proof that sometimes, you don’t need expensive clothes to shine you just need a little creativity and a lot of confidence.
Truly, it was “something made out of nothing” and we were all stars.
And finally the goodbyes.
Hugs, tears, photos, and promises to stay in touch.
We left not as strangers, but as a bonded family, carrying memories that will last forever.
So once again, thank you so much for this lovely welcome.
I came back with sore muscles, tanned skin, one bullet of glory, and a heart full of memories.
I’m proud to say I survived it all and I returned as your one and only THAYE!
