Park Boundary Pillar Fixation in Lunana Range, JDNP
The Park Boundary Pillar Fixation activity under Lunana Range commenced on 16th October 2025, beginning with the installation of Pillar JDNP-01 at Thorthomi.
The Lunana Park Range (LuPRO) has a total of 18 boundary pillars, extending from Lunana in Gasa to Yangkana in Punakha, sharing borders with Wangchuck Centennial National Park (WCNP) and the Wangdue Forest Division (WFD) respectively.
Fixing these pillars under chilling and harsh weather conditions at high mountain passes covered with ice remains one of the most challenging field operations.
The installation of boundary pillars aims to:
1. Demarcate the official boundaries of the respective Parks.
2. Serve as informative signage for Protected Areas (PA).
3. Raise awareness among communities and visitors about the location and extent of the Protected Area.
