Congratulations to BNT Vice President Janet Johnson and Past President Lawrence Glinton on receiving National Honours for their outstanding service to The Bahamas.

Janet Johnson has served the BNT for years as an independent Council member, Ministry of Tourism representative, Vice President, and President. A passionate advocate for conservation and ecotourism, she has championed national park initiatives and now serves once again as Vice President, continuing to help guide the organization.

Lawrence Glinton served on the BNT Council as Honorary Secretary, Deputy President, and President. During his leadership, he strengthened the organization's governance through up-to-date financial audits, expanded BNT membership across The Bahamas, advanced environmental education, and helped guide key conservation initiatives.

Congratulations to both on this well-deserved honour.

The Bahamas National Trust celebrated the groundbreaking of a new welcome centre at Moriah Harbour Cay National Park in Exuma and the completion of a sustainability-focused project that added solar power, rainwater harvesting, habitat restoration, invasive species management, and improved navigation measures to strengthen the 22,833-acre protected area.

We’ve made a change to how you access and explore our national parks.

Effective July 1, 2026, entrance fees will be updated across all national parks, with free access continuing for BNT Members.

We’re also introducing new pass options, including annual passes for a single park and multi-park passes that allow you to explore multiple parks on one island.

These updates support conservation efforts, park maintenance, and the continued care of the natural spaces we all enjoy.

Did you know? Peterson Cay National Park will soon be home to an underwater sculpture garden designed by artists Andret John and Jacki Boss.

Drawing inspiration from Bahamian history and culture, these sculptures were created to function as artificial reefs, providing new surfaces for corals, sponges, and other marine life to grow. Over time, they'll provide habitat for a variety of reef species, adding a new dimension to the underwater experience at Peterson Cay National Park.

Led by Blue Action Lab, this project is being delivered in partnership with BNT, Waterkeepers Bahamas, and the Grand Bahama Port Authority, with funding provided through a GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP) grant from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
