The Caribbean Association of Medical Technologists (CASMET) for Laboratory Professionals is a non-profit professional organization which seeks to foster the development and promotion of Medical Laboratory Technology in Jamaica, the Caribbean, Central America and the Dutch Antilles by way of conferences, meetings, lectures, etc. CASMET, among other things, also collaborates with the respective educ

ational institutions in its Member Countries on the development of the technical aspects of Medical Laboratory Training and encourages the development of high standards of professional conduct among its Members. In addition, the Association offers assistance with international certification in Medical Technology and Phlebotomy for its Members. The Association which was first formed in Jamaica in September 1954 was accepted as a member of the International Association of Medical Laboratory Technologists (IAMLT) in 1960 and is an affiliate of the American Medical Technologists (AMT). The Regional Council of the Caribbean Association of Medical Technologists (CASMET) joins the laboratory community in mourning the passing of a dedicated leader, colleague and friend, Mrs. D. Karen Ingraham.

Karen was a pillar within our profession, and served on the Regional Council for multiple terms, including this current term.

Her vision, tireless advocacy for excellence, and commitment to the advancement of Medical Technology across the Caribbean have left an indelible mark on our organization.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family, her friends, our colleagues at the Bahamas Association of Medical Technologists (BAMT), and the rest of the Caribbean Community.

We stand with you in honoring her incredible legacy.

May she rest in eternal peace. 🕊️🔬

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mrs. D. Karen Ingraham, Manager of the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, who transitioned on January 9, 2026.

Karen was a visionary leader, Chairperson of BAMT, a CASMET Council Member, and a passionate advocate for the laboratory profession. She worked tirelessly to promote education, awareness, and excellence in healthcare, and played a key role in advancing accreditation at PMH. Her goals, initiatives, and dedication will continue to inspire us.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family and to our entire Laboratory, Pathology, BAMT, and CASMET teams.

May she sleep in peace and rise in glory. 💔🙏🏼
