The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce recently participated in a high-level meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, the Hon. Frederick Mitchell; Minister of State for Immigration, the Hon. Darron Pickstock; Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Senator the Hon. Wayne Munroe, K.C.; senior government officials; representatives of the Department of Labor; and members of Grand Bahama's business and technical training community.

The meeting provided an important opportunity for the Chamber to raise concerns directly affecting businesses in Grand Bahama.

Key matters discussed included:
• Immigration Processing
• Inter-Agency Processing
• Local Workforce Development
• Technical Training & Certification
• Shipyard Expansion

Just over one week ago the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce partnered with URCA to host our July monthly business meeting. Terrence Roberts III,
Chairman of the Small Business Development Committee, shared how important it is for us to ensure business owners, entrepreneurs, professionals, and community members have the access to the nation’s key regulatory agencies. These sessions afford them the opportunity to ask the hard questions, understand their rights and gain valuable insight into what role URCA plays in the country.

Your Chamber is making connections

Today, the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce took another meaningful step toward building international partnerships as we joined representatives of the Grand Bahama Port Authority for a productive meeting with Mr. Shakhaowat Hossain, First Secretary of the High Commission for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, and his assistant at the Grand Bahama Port Authority headquarters on Mall Drive.

The discussions focused on trade, manufacturing, and other exciting opportunities for collaboration between Bangladesh and The Bahamas. We are optimistic that today’s conversations will lead to meaningful partnerships that will benefit us all.

At the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce, our mandate is simple: Connect. Support. Grow. Today’s meeting is another example of that commitment in action.
