Last month at the Reclaimed Materials Exhibit during BNT’s National Parks Day, we displayed a fishing net that washed ashore on Taino Beach, and filled it with some of the most commonly littered items we find across Grand Bahama.
Each piece tells the same story: what we leave behind doesn’t stay on land. It travels through drains, bush, beaches, and currents... and eventually into our ocean. Some of these items last decades. Others last centuries. Most break down into microplastics long before they ever disappear.
This net sparked so many meaningful conversations, and it reminded us that the waste crisis isn’t just global. It’s local, and it’s visible.
Which item surprised you most? ♻️🌊
