Mark 11:12-14
"And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it."

I shared this about a year ago, but now is a good time for a reminder. True Believers are more than just nice looking leaves. We bear fruit and our fruit is displayed in our Godly and God fearing character.

When Jesus, approached that tree He was judging according to truth and fruit. Because although the fig tree had no fruit, neither did it have any buds that are a sign of fruit developing in the tree.
If a Christian does not yet display fruit, he/she should at least have the "buds" that indicate fruit is in development in them. Fruit is spiritual and not merely good deeds and nice behaviors. Fruit is only produced by God and then we bear it, bring it forth.

As Galatians 5:22-25 states,
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit"

How long does it take for a tree to bud? God knows, and He is also able to expose the trees that hide behind nice leaves. How long do we see only leaves before we will face the truth and either cry out to Jesus or be exposed?

In these last days there are a lot of leaves impressing and gaining attention from the lust of eyes (if we are not careful to discern truth)

Let us continue to pray because Satan is powerfully deceptive and subtle. We can't outmaneuver him, we need Jesus. And we need to be faithful and loyal to Jesus alone. Only a good tree can bear good fruit. So let us not be satisfied, content, nor impressed with leaves alone. We will know a tree by its fruit, be it good or bad, not its leaves.

Learn as much as you can why you can, and while you do this make sure it is saturated with the word and will of God as your guide. No amount of money will guarantee anything, but when we know God is the one who guided us there, we know we can confidently rely on Him for our needs.
