🦇 The Amazon basin is home to more than 160 described bat species - roughly 10% of the world’s total.

🦇 While most bats are insectivores, rainforests have a surprisingly high proportion of fruit-eating species that play a crucial ecological role as seed dispersers.

🦇 Bat identification is notoriously challenging, and with this level of diversity it can feel almost impossible - but with a specialist biologist and a field guide by your side, it becomes one of the most rewarding activities you can do out here.

🦇 “Bat day” is, without exception, the most hyped day of every course. Bats are mysterious creatures we rarely encounter beyond a silhouette in the evening sky. Getting hands-on experience and meeting them face to face has changed the way many of our participants see them.

🐾 Only two courses left in 2026: September 7–14 and November 17–24, deep in the Brazilian Amazon near Manaus.

🐾Eight days fully immersed in one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet. Small group, daily fieldwork, expert local guides, and enough wildlife encounters to last a lifetime. Everything inside the reserve is covered - transfers, meals, field equipment, and accident insurance.

🐾These courses are designed for anyone who wants to experience the Amazon the right way, not as a tourist, but as a field naturalist. Whether you’re a student, a researcher, or simply someone who has always wanted to do this, there’s a place for you here.

We hit the finish line with yet another course! And words cannot tell how spectacular it was! 🌿

Countless incredible invertebrates and birds, bats, primates, snakes, and the one and only Surinam toad (P**a pipa)🐸
Some of the sightings weren’t just new finds for the participants, but new records for the reserve itself, expanding what we know about the wildlife here.

As always, we’re grateful to INPA PPG Ecologia - INPA for our partnership!
